Description This artwork has been on DA for a while and there have been quite a number of people who doubt it isn't me who created it. Therefore, to clear the misunderstanding and prove that I'm not a tracer or art thief, I make this to show the progress of me making

Please click download for biggest view.

-Step 1 : Open Paint Tool SAI, make a rough sketch of the girls on tablet. I haven't had any bgs in mind yet.

-Step 2: Make a new layer named "Line art" on top of the sketch, lower the ocapacity of the sketch layer and ink on the "line art" layer.

-Step 3: Fill the image with base colors. This usually takes me a while cause I'm very picky with colors

-Step 4: Detail the characters by adding some cel-shading, color the eyes and add highlights to the hair.

-Step 5: Start doing bg with vector.

-Step 6: Fill bg with base colors. Add the word "K-ON" to the board by using a customized brush

-Step 7: Detail the bg, I keep adding shadow layers as well as textures to the floor until I'm satisfied

-Step 8: Open the image in Photoshop CS3, adjust a bit of levels, contrast and saturation. Also add some lightning from the top left.

Done and go give Azusa a hug.

I hope this progressing image answers the question whether I'm stealing this image from someone or not once and for all. It's very offensive and yet insulting to me when being claimed to steal my own work.

I never use tablet so I dont know which is easier

But I think linearting with tablet will be more simple to me
well, its all depended on the one who draws it XD

When I was little I found lineart in opencanvas 1.1 with my trackpad was the easiest. now that I have carpal tunnel (oh god I sound old but i'm only 19) I find that the wacom tablet is the best because i don't get hurt. XD

Giving Azusa a hug, funny thing about some people, especially those who have tremendous envy issues, they tend to jump into conclusions. (still hugging) I can't even believe that Tonee89 would even entertain scumbag comments like these, so you all critics should be greatful that he has, (Still hugging) I'm with this dude and not just because I'm hugging his character lol;

It's somewhat ridiculous to think you stole this... I mean, of course it could be. But I usually have a look at an artist's gallery when I am unsure whether they stole a work. It's very easy to see if the according pic fits into the artist's gallery or not. And your cheerleading pic, in my opinion, does resemble the style of other of your works a lot. So I don't see why anyone should think you stole this.

Yeah, you have to see he is a reoccuringness to the art to see whether it's stolen or not. And there's a reverse image search you can use to see if someone stole something, and I did it with one of his images, and the only links that came up where the original deviantart links (to his picture).

However, boyfriend said... "DUDE! Just use pen tools if you're having problems with long straight lines.

And I was like.. "..... What?" I like how pen tools in lots of programs can be very useful for lots of things, but it's not going to be my source of all inking. o:

This is very nice... but why manga? You are obviously very talented, why can't you develop your own style?
I mean this manga stuff is tasteless...

I'm going to take a wild guess and assume its because she likes doing it?
There's nothing stopping her 'style' from being manga-like

A lot of artists here on DA, and I imagine elsewhere, use Paint Tool SAI. What does this give you that Photoshop doesn't have?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alebat In reply to Hironemo [2010-05-26 09:20:47 +0000 UTC]

Sai has different brushes, they have a different feel to them, then anything photoshop. And from what I've seen and tested out with it makes smoother and cleaner line work. You can produce similar work with photoshop but sai just has a different feel to it, it's a lot more suitable for anime types of work.

please excuse the random reply. ;3

Nothing random about a formal answer. Thanks!

It only works for windows though, right? Well, doesn't matter, since Mac technically goes both ways. (FYI, I have a Mac)

90% sure.

Very nice picture BTW. ^.^ Thin lines are hard to draw and work with! I envy your ability.
