Description I think this is a Greater Short-Horned Lizard.
Northern New Mexico
"The greater short-horned lizard (Phrynosoma hernandesi), also commonly known as the mountain short-horned lizard, is a species of lizard endemic to western North America. Like other horned lizards, it is often called a "horned toad" or "horny toad", but it is not a toad at all. It is a reptile, not an amphibian." - Wikipedia

It is that.  We try to go back once or twice a year to Santa Fe.
I am send you a photo of a little lizard I found in my yard a few years ago.  Not as good as your shot, but I was happy to just see him.

Also I need to say thank you for the favorites, and thanks for looking.  Forgot my manners for a minute there.

He was pretty chill, I think they just sit and wait for something to walk by and then jump on it I didn't try to poke him though
