Description
This is kinda of a sequel to the Team Batman pic I did.Team Superman!!!!! Superman, Supergirl, Superboy, Steel and Krypto!!!! (No Streaky, Comet or Beppo!!!!)
Anyways, this pic was sitting in mothballs for several months until I finally got around to finishing the colors. Originally I had Supergirl in her old white t-shirt/mini skirt design. Had to completely redraw her current look. (I like this one better)
The late Superboy is in my redesign of his suit, NOT That LAZY jeans/T-shirt crap.)
Steel is in some variation of his costumes.
All I can say is that I am glad to finally be done with it!!!!
Looking back I think I made Superman's S way to big!

The S is about as big as it is on John Henry...Looks fine to me!
I like that Krypto has Bling!
Nice to see Kon in a REAL costume again...Agreed re. the TShirt & Jeans. THANK YOU for NOT giving either Kon OR Kal a buzz-cut!
You have a nice, EdMcGuiness-like style!
Nicely done,all told!

Pretty cool, I really like the inclusion of Steel.
I don't see Superboy in jeans and t-shirt as lazy.Β I honestly see it as an ideal choice of wear for a teenage superhero, cause I look at it this way I don't honestly believe that every single teenage hero is in to the whole costume thing.Β Especially if side kick/close/protege/etc. of an already established hero, more so when that hero is Superman.

Not likely going to draw that suit since I am fully against anything involved with that stupid (and if I am correct) pointless reboot.

The Not so "New" 52 being the weak-sauced BS 'reboot', along with the Crap Marvel has pulled in the last 10 years has pretty much killed any desire to read comics anymore.Β
The idea of a reboot is that you start from scratch, a fresh clean slate. This reboot is CRAP to it's core. Superman's new origin and lawsuit avoiding new suit is garbage and insulting but the fact that Batman & Green Lantern's 10+ year history is condensed down to 5 years is utter BS. It's all to please the vanity of that Over-rated HACKΒ Geoff Johns so that all theΒ mediocreΒ 'hard work' he put into Green Lantern can stay in this cannon and Batman went through 5-6 Robins in that 5 years?
FUCK You Jim Lee, Dan Didido and enormous FUCK YOU Geoff Johns!Β
Sorry, that just reopened an old wound.Β

Yep! Β It's unforgivable. Β Over 70 years of continuity destroyed, and this garbage instead. Β And the damage wasn't just confined to the big 7. Β I can't stand what they did to Swamp Thing, just to name an example. Β Alan Moore created an absolute masterpiece of backstory during his run, and they utterly leveled it. Β Nauseating...I'm amazed that they didn't pull some of this crap with the other imprints, like Vertigo...a retcon like this on the Endless would have been devastating...

Looks a little close. Where I got mine was from some Teen Titans Animated fan art I saw on the net a few years ago. I incorporated some aspects of it and added my own thoughts to it. I am working on a character design of that suit with some changes again. Mostly to reflect his color scheme and NOT that crap new 52 reboot!

Krypto: the ONE super-pet that managed to make it. No friggin' idea how. The rest got retired because the monkey was annoying, nobody remembered the cat, and that horse. Comet. Was friggin' creeping everybody out, what with the whole "I wanna get with Supergirl!" thing.
BTW, love the Superboy design.

Even if Bepo and Comet were brought into the mix, I still wouldn't have added them. I was torn with Streaky (Being a Cat owner)
However Krypto always gets the nod. He came first.
I have always felt that Superman should be the LAST Kryptonian. However, my exceptions to that Rule - The Girl. Zod and a couple of his Subjects chillin out in the Phantom Zone and the Dog! That's it for Krypton's last Survivors.

I'm cool with that. Superboy, of course, does not quite count as a Kryptonian. He DOES seem to be shaping up to be a good young Man of Steel however.

I don't have a problem with the jeans/t-shirt costume, but I'm really liking Conner's outfit here!
Plus the whole thing is reminiscent of the early 2000s Superman, which really needs more love.

Wow, that's one of the best redesign's of Superboy's costume I've come across on DA (simple, elegant but very reminiscent of Clark's).
And yes, anything is better than TT's non-costume. *Bleagh*

TonyForever In reply to RABguy [2009-03-04 07:16:49 +0000 UTC]
Thank you!
Superboy's redesign was loosely based on Eradicator-Supes and inspired by a Teen Titans Animated. (At least as far as simplicity goes.)
Yeah I hate that trend of putting these young heroes in non traditional superheroes suits all for the sake for making them "hip" and Realistic.
I say SCREW Hip/Realism! I get enough reality just living in it!!!! What may seem hip now will be deemed Stupid a few months/years later. Kids/Teenager dialogue of Film/TV of the mid to late 90's looking back on it seems stupid because NO ONE talked like that in reality!
OOps, got on my soap box again. Time to step down. Thanks again!

It's okay, I know how it goes (especially with Superboy)!
I also hear you on teenager's dialogue. It's one thing to try to tap into some teenage slang but too many writers just go way overboard (I still gawk over Christopher Priest's attempts in Ray#2... egads, was that terrible). Same thing with either trying to make them streetwise (plain clothes costumes) or hardcore (improbable costume designs). I just wish creators would go for more traditional super-hero-y designs, like yours.
But since I didn't state it, the overall picture is very nice too

Looks great...nice work.
Supermans' "S" looks good, it has always ranged in size over the years, don't worry about it...you did a great job... the only thing I personally would have like to see is the full mask for Steel instead of the face version, but that is just me.
Again, Great Job

I drew that pic around the time that Steel was wearing that suit and Supergirl was not Kara Zor-El yet. I think I just got lazy and didn't want to draw the Metal mask. Yet My Hatred for lazy Jeans/T-shirt costume is still pretty strong back then. Only Smallville Clark Kent can get away with that look.
