The Cybermen weren't introduced by the First Doctor, that was the Daleks. The Cybermen came about thanks to the second doctor

Not a lot of people will know that. Most whovians remember the Daleks as first introduced by him rather than the Cybermen

Every Doctor Who fan worth his salt knows that the Cybermen were first seen in the story The Tenth Planet. Its one of the most famous and well known stories because it is the first time they are introduced and it is William Hartnell's final story.
It is VERY well known within fandom.

Every Doctor has an alien most associated with their run though. That's all I'm saying. I remember it very well, it's just that most will remember

But Doctor Who fans wont remember him traducing the Cybermen? Even though that was the adventure that caused his first Regeneration?
I've been a Doctor Who fan since I was 5 years old, its a well known fact that The cybermen's first story was with the First doctor. While the first Doctor will also be remembered for The Daleks, he will also be remembered for introducing the cybermen. The Tenth Planet (which my photo is based on) has also recently been released on DVD.

There's usually an alien that everyone will associate with a certain regeneration. I believe more people associate the Cybermen with the second doctor because the second doctor expanded on them. The first doctor brought in the Daleks, which is what everyone associates with him.
In addition, more people are going to remember the Third Doctor for the Autons if anything. David Tenant actually is still creeped out by store maniquens. He remembers hiding in his mother's coat after seeing the episodes involving them. Just imagine his reaction when he was handed the script to expand on them
