Description NOTE: this character is a teammate of Blue Streak, featured elsewhere in this gallery, but this write up features a new origin for the character(s).  This character is owned and created by

Doc Optic was a super villain who used a "color wheel" in his villainous schemes.  One day, Bailey Burroughs and her friend Robin Richards were exposed to the dimensional energies of the Color Wheel when Kenny Cortez, son of science teacher Mr. Cortez, dropped the wheel.  He didn't know what it was, but when it fell it bathed Robin, Kenny and Bailey in light from the "yellow, red, and blue" dimensions (whatever they really were/are, those were the terms Doc Optic used to describe them.

(after this change, the character descriptions are similar to what they've been).  Bailey absorbed the energy from the "yellow dimension" and this energy gave her great strength.  She and Kenny and Robin formed a super-hero team called "Spectrum".  Bailey took the name "Yellowhammer" based on Kenny's suggestion, unaware that the yellowhammer was a small songbird (Or term for a curveball with dramatic up to down motion).

Like her partners in the spectrum, she constantly has a low level of her superpower (in this case she can lift as much as a ton without even tapping into the Yellow Dimension). However, when she does tap into the dimension, she is surrounded by a yellow aura and can lift up to 40 tons without being hampered. Because, like all her partners, the more power she draws from her color dimension, the stronger and more opaque her aura becomes.  None of the team knows their upper limits, because after a certain amount of power is drawn, the aura is completely opaque.  Even though it's hard to see, just before her aura becomes too opaque to see through, yellowhammer can lift 70 tons.   Unlike Robin (Blue Streak) trying to reach the upper limits of her speed, or Kenny (Red Shift) trying to reach the upper limits of his power, it is conceivable that Bailey could find herself in a situation where she must tap the YD to its maximum to hold something aloft or back (like a mountain being dropped on a team of heroes) where it wouldn't matter how opaque her field was for her to use her maximum strength. To date, no such circumstance has occurred.
