This is interesting...several different eras and styles and materials...guess any time they needed more room and had a bit more money than usual they tacked something new on, or maybe each new owner added on? Anyway, fun to ponder, and nice textures in the shot.

Thanks! Much to ponder. When I return I need to try and figure out what was going on here. Deep valley and really not much farmland to support "a farm". Funny how wealth dictated many different farm structures.

Most universities accept local volunteers...you should check to see if they need people in the spring or summer for local projects. Sometimes they can even point you to international projects where you pay a reduced airfair, and they feed you and give you a place to stay (usually tents, but sometimes much nicer)while you help with an excavation.

Great image, Bob. I really like the rustic colors and soft lighting in this image. The soft light created by the cloudy skies really helped you out here, by keeping the colors from blowing out. Very nicely done.

Thanks Dan. Really like these barns and looking forward to some snow (if we ever get any) for a different perspective. About a 300 mile round trip but it just doesn't get any better in my opinion. Strange, just driving down the road and.... Nothing else for miles.
