Imagine how it would be if Nickelodeon didn't hire Ernest Borgnine to complete the dynamic undersea duo but the other comedian Tim Conway was partnered up with: Harvey Korman. I've been watching The Carol Burnett Show and have laughed at the routines Harvey and Tim did, and my favorites are "the Old Man" whose senility gets on the other's nerves, which is kind of like how Mermaidman and Barnacleboy, except it's Tim who's the impatient one. I wonder if the writers watched the show and thought of that for the heroes' characters, or maybe Tim mentioned it to them when this episode was being written.
Anyway, if Harvey teamed up again with Tim instead of Ernest being the partner, maybe Tim could have used his senile old man as Mermaidman instead while Harvey was the impatient Barnacleboy.
Imagine how that would have been. It would have been a little different than what we have now.
