The lines are different than what I am used to colouring, but I like the soft effect that I could get with the help of their texture.

That is pretty gorgeous! The only recommendation I have is if you could apply the same gradient effect you did on the hair for the mermaid's torso/fish body. Actually, that was just the intended effect from the original sketch.
You also get credit for being able to read my lines. I know they are messy on this one. XD

I think it's great! What I meant was a slight gradient transition around the mermaid's torso right when it becomes a tail on her waist. Here's reference [link]
This is essentially your coloring with the gradient in the torso area applied. I also added some highlights. Don't be afraid to go all out! You've got a natural eye for coloring but you seem to be holding yourself back on the highlights. Don't!

I hold back on highlights because I go overboard when I do them. I can't find the space between too much and not enough.
