Not really a forest but the name sort of stuck. A unique flora that adapted life on the saltwater surface. The 'central node' is the main body of the raft with roots that can intertwined with others of it own species and can also traps debris into it vines to add more mass into self, supporting more life; slowly becoming its own island.

The glowing bulbs underneath are what keep the plant afloat, compose of colonies of microbes that evolved with a symbiotic relationship with the plants (also the bulbs are bioluminescence too). The plant size can reach up similar size as a blue whale, maybe more as long as it not disturb. Life expectancy can be centuries, maybe thousands if possible.

The floating forest can also support aquatic life too, provide food and shelter from predators in return the faunas help the plant with protection and maintenance such as cleaning and removing dead waste.

If the forest is somehow damage by storms or ships, as long as at one of the 'central node' is still intact, it can rebuild itself to is formal state.
