Sometimes the dreams you have for life can be as confusing as the dreams you explore in your sleep (mine are always nebulous, constantly shifting things that keep changing their story in the middle of the plot). Everything can change, just by altering your point of view--and if I could, I'd stick this in a swiveling frame, so you could have either end be the top.

Which side is the illusion? Sinking into the depths, striking out for a distant kingdom, being dragged to safety? Is it the nightmare of a merman, that he might be fished away from his kingdom and into the mundane world above? Is it the dream of a drowning man who is pulled back to the surface in the nick of time?

Right now I have no idea where my life is going to lead me, and there are a lot of times when I feel like I'm hopelessly pulled in a million directions and drifting aimlessly at the same time. I know I'm going to have to figure out what I really want to pursue before I can make any headway, but even now the things I really love in life, like art, and teaching, are helping me to get my bearings.

Just because one dream comes to an end, that's no reason to despair. What seems like sinking might end up with finding yourself in a whole new world of opportunities.
