I am having a hard time figuring out how to re-design Fred... On the one hand, he did great as an oblivious, trap-happy, but likeable idiot... On the other hand it might be fun to explore other aspects and turn him into a lovable mystery-nerd, an obnoxious but sweet jock, an action-loving and responsible leader etc. etc. etc.
. I really need to sit down and get him done properly.

I'm glad you didn't ditch the neck accessory entirely on him; Fred just...looks funny without something around his neck. But yeah; the ascot needs to go.

Agreed - I still wanted to keep certain elements of his design, but they just needed to be upgraded. And I do much prefer ties over ascots.

The ascot made sense in the time the original came out (and was presumably set) but in modern renditions, an upgrade is overdue.

At least they gave him a personality - obnoxious as it might be, it was something of an improvement compared to the original.
