There's something about that time period that make hats seem like an essential part of your wardrobe. And, everyone looked good wearing one, too. (unlike one of my roommates who will a fedora with swim shorts and a tank top)

They are indeed; I do have a fancy one myself... but when the hell is one supposed to use it! Unless you're British and invited to visit the royal family I see no purpose for fancy hats
