Okay, so here's the deal; I've had NO idea of how to approach these two stupid old geezers... Not until I saw Downton Abbey season 5, Christmas Special, it struck me how to deal with this, so if the scene seems familiar to any of you who's seen it. There's a reason for it.Anyway; Edith has to decide whether she's up for returning to Middle East or take up a position offered to her in London. She's decided until Dawson FINALLY mans up and this is the result.
It's SO important to me to keep the tone somewhat true to the time-period. These two wouldn't have faffed about and fooled around or nothing. They would have been very proper, maybe having a bit too intimate a friendship, but nothing else funky, unless they were married or at least engaged. So it was bound to happen - and look, tomorrows Valentine... What a coinky-dinky

I am so happy that people are SO supportive of this couple! It's always a bit risquΓ© to match up OC's with canons, but people have been nothing but nice about these two, and it really warms my heart. It was of course always my intention of having these two ending up together, but it was also really important for me to build up their relationship before settling on anything.

And you did beautifully with that! I think it's that and the way you write them together that makes people support this couple so much. The way you write them is so believable; they have their flaws, their spats, their likes and dislikes and how they interact with one another, their makeups, their romantic moments...it's all written and balanced together so well it makes their relationship believable. It's just so real and beautiful watching their relationship blossom.

That really means a lot coming from a fellow TGMD-fan; They have developed a lot since I first doodled Edith, and she has changed a lot, hopefully for the better; and with her, so has her relationship to Dawson. It went from more comrade-like and good friends, to a lot of tension and a genuine soft romantic spot for one another. I do like working with these two as they are much less complicated and settled, and well... just and old genuine sort of romance, which I really admire in real life.
Hearing those words from you means so much, and it really makes me want to work more with these two fools; than you so so much!
