If you want to commission something like this from me, send me a note!This was just a quick mess around piece since 3 people have drawn Reginald for me and I only have one picture of him. Decided to do his face from an angle I wasn't totally comfortable with to give me some practice in that. It was also hard to try and put a sort of expression on him since imo dragonborn really shouldn't make many expressions. Not like they have eyebrows or real lips. I also messed with the contrast a bit since I know sometimes my shadows and highlights can look a little bit faded out especially when I'm not confident about the colors.
Done with the good old mouse in Photoshop.
I had a reference for this but it looks like it was deleted unfortunately. I used it to reference the general position and the hand.

It's how I started so I have a lot of practice. When I drew in high school the lines were scanned in from paper, and then all the colors and shading were with mouse. It was only until a few months ago that I had a proper tablet

Haha, that's how it went for me, too! Scan the lines, color digitally. Except I didn't start coloring digitally until I had a tablet, lol. I can't draw for crap on digital-only, tablet or no.

Wacom is what I'm using now, actually. But it's the bottom of the line model, from seven years ago. XD You're right, I might be able to find something on clearance. ^_^

Right! In high school I had a shit knock off tablet I hated so I thought that I couldn't draw with a tablet. Using a nice one makes a huge difference
