Description
This was a meme or something. But i decided to do it my own way, with little red stars and stuff. also i was too lazy to really go looking for images for everything here. and theres so much here the file size would too big for mortal computers.
okay well.
All this stuff has influenced my drawing in one way or another. not always specificly drawing style and so on, but also upon the stuff i've chosen to draw, and the ideas behind those drawings.
1. Anime
Probably my earliest influence. mainly pokemon, but others to a lesser degree as well. i still have drawing quirks from those early influences, such as the way i draw creases, pockets and ears.
2. Video games
My second earliest, and still running strong, influence. i was led in by pokemon and the gameboy (which taught me to read and write), and eventually the sony and gamecube. Final Fantasy 8 was a massive influence on my, from what i liked to draw, to the kind of stories i enjoyed. that paradox at the end. i still love it. i played it about 5 years ago, and i recently played it through again. games have been more of a conceptual than a drawing influence.
3.Reading
having acquired my reading skills from pokemon and the gameboy (at the cost of many many AA batteries) i one day decided to read harry potter to see what all the hyp was about. i read the 5th book first, and it took me weeks, and think most of it just went in one eye and out the other. but got enough at the end of it to love it, and so i read the whole series (backwards from the 5th book). from there i went on to read these new book things more often, and they influenced me conceptually. though harry potter gets another special mention for influencing the way i draw noses (i tried to draw the cover of the 6th book and it forever changed my nose drawing habbits).
3.5. Game maker
for a while, i played around with game maker. it was fun, and i did alot of sprite drawing. it was through someones signature on that site however, that i found smackjeeves.
4.Webcomics
influenced my across the full spectrum. i began reading all these ameteur comics, made by normal people like me, and i wanted to do that too. ofcourse, the only comic i ever did failed about page 20 and was so terrible and badly planned it probably planted in me the desire to overplan to the point that i never actually start- (but i'm working on it)- but still. it made me draw more deliberatly, and think out my stories and ideas more fully. reading these comics made me realise i want to tell stories myself, and it encouraged me to draw better. i don't think i would have activly tried to improve otherwise.
5. the television (movies and real life shows etc)
mostly a conceptual influence, in terms of what kind of characters i want to draw, and on the stories i wanted to tell. also tone. it is here i should probably note, that my drawing and my desire to tell stories are so intertwined in my mind that to me they are almost the same thing. most of the drawings i put up here relate to one story idea or another in some way or another.
6. conepts
some of the stuff has influences me because i myself believe in it (pantheism), or simply because i find it's concepts interesting and useful for story symbolism and worldmaking (kabbalah). post modern gets the highlight because upon learning about the word and what it meant and so on, i realised it describes my outlook on the world well, and all things i look at get filtered through postmodernism.
7. Reality
most recently, and really i guess all along, this is the real influence. it is the source of all other influences, and it's always important to go back to the source and make your own interpretation. conceptually and artistically.
most recently, i've been drawing alot more from real life.
phew. that's about it. though i didn't talk about evertyhing, i think i covered the essentials.
two other influences up there that i should probably mention are this site, deviantArt, and also psychology which i became interested in over the past two years and am about to start a course in. i'm interested in what motivates people and how they develop into who they are, and this is something that rings through everything i make as well.
...
yep done.
i'm also working on something i'm calling 'a stylistic breakdown' which involves trying to find the origins off all the little drawing habbits that make up a drawing of mine.
it's interesting to think about, but hard as well.

Because you chose not to follow what everyone else did with their influence charts, you deserve a favourite XDD
On a more serious note, I really like your influences! Very interesting to see how your art and imagination takes shape.

thanks C:
i've probably still missed stuff though.
and i wanted to have arrows pointing around to show how one influence led to another and stuff, but it was too messy.
e.g pokemon>gameboy>reading>harry potter>large books and series

Haha! You know...strangely enough, the example you just gave looks similar to my own primary influence XD. But if I put that down, absolutely no one would have recognised that they were influence O_o Damn, maybe I should've put down Yugioh cos it *did* influence my art back in high school...oh well. :/
