Description
Oh boy, now these guys have quite a story. Basically in my communications class (photoshop and cameras and fun) I ended up getting ahead of schedule. The teacher gave me this bonus bonus assignment to work on, which was simply to make a game cover using photoshop. Now obviously, thats not what I did owo
However, what I did do was create 6-8 new characters for a new concept that could legit become a game someday. Ah, what a great class.
Shutter: toyhou.se/2004834.shutter
Pronouns: She/her
Type: Standard digital camera
Function: Regular scenario photos
Personality: Brave, determined, grounded
Shutter is the protagonist of the game, thus the latter's name. She is the beginning usable character and has all of the basic functions.
Film: toyhou.se/2004850.film
Pronouns: They/Them
Type: Film camera
Function: Film photos
Personality: Quiet, skiddish, loyal
Film is second to the protagonist both in game and as a character. They are a classic film camera, with a cape and no delete button. You have to return to Processor (another character 'w') and process the film, which can be done manually but also automatically. They are also very light sensitive, due to the built in lightometer on their chest.
The cameras are on a beautiful, majestic alien planet, sent there with nothing but the intent to capture and analyze the ecosystem. A threat is soon evident, and the team must find a way to stop the unstoppable; Overcast (ayyy another character) before they give the world forever a covering of darkness! I'm thinking that they beep to each other as communication, but a text box below would translate it to english (as in while you are playing the game).

Oh my gosh, I love this entire concept already. ^v^
The characters look so lively, even though they don't actually have faces. (Which I've been trying to do for the longest of times)
The things you described with the characters and the environment, plus the overall story kinda make me certain that this is definitely a great game idea. 'v'

Aaaa thank you so much!! I'm really happy that you think so highly of it, even with just this little snippet of info.
Yeah, I adore characters with challenging designs to get emotion out of. Especially robots and aliens, because you can convey their emotions through entirely different ways. Its also great because it makes you require more action and intent in their body posture! ^^

Man, I should really get back into working on those 2 robot peeps. Those were the only ones that actually challenged me to get better at poses and expressions a bit. Been waay too long since the last time I drew them.
Maybe I could finally create a design for them that would work much better than their current state. 'v'
Yeah, I think the reason I love this so much is that it reminds me of myself from a few years ago.
When I was in 3rd grade going all the way into 7th grade, I wanted to be able to develop games for game companies.
Unfortunately, I kinda recently gave up on the idea of doing that.
But at least you actually have an idea that could actually work. ^v^

Oh yes! I'd love to see those characters again new and improved, you really did seem to have something there in that old art. If you feel attached to them than there's no use keeping them in the dust! ^w^
Awe, it sounds like your younger self would have been friends with my younger self! I kinda wish we were in the same school, since I didn't really meet any other artists my age in this small town. The few I met that are older than me don't take it very seriously either,, but thats off topic. Thats why DA and online chatting is so incredible; the community it has!
I'd like to make Psaw a cartoon first, but certainly not too far behind would be Shutter as a fully fledged game. So I'm really glad that you think Its onto something that could be big! ^^

Welp seems like during school I started doodling and ended up drawing one of them with a semi-updated look. 'v'
Gonna be uploading that later.
As much as I would like to say it would've been great if we were in the same school like you said, I don't think my past self would have had the courage to say anything. So the possibilities would've been pretty low. But even if somehow we became friends then... well...
You'd have to deal with me probably constantly talking a lot.
I may be a generally quiet person and one that can't keep a conversation going, but allow me to speak and all you'd hear about is my personal thoughts on stuff that isn't quite interesting.
And so I wholeheartedly agree with you. ^V^
Thanks to the Internet connecting everyone together, it's allowed so many people to interact with each other all around the globe.
Millions upon millions of potential people to meet, friends to make, etc. Definitely, a great thing to have. ' v '
There is a lot of potential with both Psaw and Shutter, and I hope they succeed when you do go and start on them. ^v^

Oh awesome! I cant wait to see it then ^^
Okay, lowkey myself as a child sounds like what you described exactly. I was an awkward quiet kid back then, rambling on about Pokemon or dinosaurs or something to the nearest person who would keep listening. My two main friends also loved to chat about their interests.. the only problem with that was that they only brought up conversations about first person shooters and satire of the world- and later more gross sexual things as well, oh jeez. I don't know how I managed to hold on to my innocence! So I'm pretty sure we'd end up being able to chat about much more intriguing topics than what I tolerated back then. 'w'
Aw, thank you for believing in their futures ^U^

Alright, where the heck do these similarities between us end?
I have 2 main "friends" (don't know if I should even count them as that) that constantly talk about their interests as well, but the differences start here as one of them talks about games I've never played/don't feel like playing at all and the other talks about shows that I, again, never watched/don't feel like watching at all.
Not to mention the fact that I'm never able to talk about stuff I want to talk about for even a single minute before they switch the topic to their interests.
Now, I don't know if I should even consider them friends or call them acquaintances, but I do know one thing. PE is the only time in school when I can actually think without interruption... But then a problem arose. Frickin' I have both of them in the same class now. So not only are they talking to each other, they're talking to me as well. And that distracts me from even thinking properly and ends up leaving me feeling like crap and wanting to go to bed the very instant I get home.
Oh boy I started ranting, sorry. '_';

Oh woah, are we secret twins again??? No kidding, my friends were exactly the same in that they'd never let me say anything of interest. To be honest for the second half of middle school I ended up just being that one person thats in the group only because they were in the group the entire time. I mean we were friends,, but then one started swearing and the other became obsessed with first person shooters and anime. I don't think I realized that the group had already parted ways mentally until I stopped talking to them in grade 9.
It really is tough finding people who actually take drawing seriously as well. I don't think one person in my school was an artist and a good person. I'm really happy to have better friends now that I've branched out from that however, whether they be irl or online! ^^
As for your past friends.. I mean, if they really were causing you more trouble than its worth its definitely good that you have disassociated with them. However, when they start to talk to you or bug you in class you always can say 'hey, please stop, your distracting me'. I'm sure they'll eventually leave you alone. 'u'

My gosh, what is this?!
All the stuff you just said right here is only starting to happen to me right now. I'm in a group of friends, specifically over 10 people, and right now the only reason I'm even part of it is that one of my current main friends introduced me to all of them. Only, the problem is that for me, I'm starting to feel like wanting to be alone more and more. Or maybe I'm just getting fatigued by all the talking. I don't know.
As for when it comes to drawing, in my school, I've ever only met one of 2 types of people:
1) Someone who doesn't care about art and is using the art or drawing class as basically a free period.
2) Does art but doesn't take it seriously.
But yeah, having been online for about... a year? I have met some really great people. So, I'm thankful for that. ^v^
Now, this is something I also may need to elaborate on, but it's not really as bad as I may have made it sound like. Also, they're more recent friends than old. Met both of them last year in 9th grade. But I'll take your advice, I've been far too accepting of things for so many years. Maybe this year I'll finally start being able to speak my mind a bit more. 'v'

How are we not twins?? We must have some otherworldly connection that binds our life experiences together, OooOoOo!
Wow, 10 friends is a lot! Irl I only have maybe 2 or 3 friends, but when we talk I don't usually find it a hassle. 10 friends though?? Now that could get tiring easily. Plus losing interest of social interaction with the bestest of friends is one of those things that happens with introverts (from what I can tell you would probably be more introvert than extrovert).
There's nothing more aggravating than seeing somebody take an art course just to get the credit required. They put no effort into it because they assume art is one of those courses that you can pass without doing anything (which obviously applies to no course ever). And its nice to find people who enjoy art,, but hard to connect when they don't know much of the basics that more serious artists would know.
Ah, sounds like a good plan. I have no idea about the exact situation, but usually if something prohibits one from getting work done its safe to want to neutralize it.
Heh, notice how this reply thread in particular seems to be answered behind the others-- it takes a little bit to write this much. But its good though, writing is fun! ^U^

We are but 2 pieces of a bigger picture. We come from the same person but have lived different lives. And now it is our destiny to join together and to bring peace to the world...
...
Nah, it's probably all just coincidence that we do. ^^:
Yep 10 friends, and definitely hard to keep up with.
And yeah, you got that right, I'm mostly an introvert. And what you said pretty much sums me up.
Completely agree with you on that as well.
I'd like to add more to this conversation but I seem to have run out of things to add. heh heh
Anyways, yeah.
You know, I always focus so much on my art, that I tend to forget that I like to write as well. ^v^
But right now I think we should end this reply thread here. 'v'
It was a long and very information heavy thing. Also, I guess this is the first time I've revealed this much about myself.
I guess this also shows how much I've changed during the course of last year.

Even if its completely improbable, that is a cool idea o0o
I actually quite enjoy musical arts and making lists or videos, but usually end up drawing rather than doing any other hobbies. Even so its nice to know that one can have several interests simultaneously ^^
Well it was certainly intriguing to hear about the life of a fellow artist and share my own. This was a great conversation! ^U^
