Dungeon 1: It's Harrison as a Page! (for a different subspecies prompt). Styalistically I still have no idea what I"m doing. OTL I keep trying new things but I can't get it to "click". It's very frustrating trying to get a polished piece, even when I keep my lines/colors as clean as I can, it ends up looking messy and flat. Then I do messy things on top of it that look better? But it's messy again and not consistent. Just need to keep trying I think.Dungeon 2: (A wish)
Harrison had started braving waters outside of Rep's shores, and was surprised at what he had found. There were other worlds, of course. That made sense. But there was more than that. Even some stuff he couldn't bring Rep with him for. He didn't much care for that. He'd always thought their Nightmares showed all the outside there was. A vast sea and sky, with other islands of property dotted like oasises through the realm.
But there was more than one way to travel, and the deeper you went, the weirder it got.
He thought everything was hooked together by the sea, but it turned out instead it was all knotted together in the branches of a vast tree. A World tree. The first time he saw it, he felt struck dumb. Like everything he'd known up to this point was like a young ant thinking the whole world was the inside of a sand tunnel.
And in comfortable, glowing homes knotted up in each branch, there was a Nightmare. A Nightmare like Rep's. A Nightmare like his.
The world didn't end at the tree. Deeper, knotted in its lower branches was something else, an invasive maze of rooms and what ifs. There was a guild that paid adventurers pretty good to give it a look. Harrison was still on the mend, but he thought a handful of rooms couldn't hurt.
Letting Rep know where he was going, he ventured down into the deep.
The first room had changed him. He hadn't expected that. Not his human form, or the regular one, the deer, but something in between, with a giant book that felt as much a part of him as his Jellyfish did. It only lasted as long as the room, though, and as soon as he took an unusually fluffy hand to turn the handle on a bright red door, everything shifted again.
He was older. He still had his scars, and he was still a blonde, but he was a little rougher around the edges. The royal shades of purple and violent pink had been exchanged for a bright and confident blue, as deep as the sea that ran through his City. He was at the top floor of one of the tallest buildings, and the night lights glittered like piled gems over the landscape. Up here, it didn't look like concrete and steel. It glowed. It looked like the bottom of the ocean, the faraway inhabitants like fish. A pair of hands wrapped around his waist, and there was an emphatic purr in his ear. He knew who it was at once, draped in fur and Italian cloth woven from the finest dreams.
"My Queen," he said with affection, inclining his head to claim a kiss from bristly lips.
It was perfect for a second, and then it dispersed. Gone like a reflection in a still pond that someone had thrown a stone into. Just...what? A wish? A dream?
Maybe it had been better Rep wasn't here with him to see all that.
