Description
Updated, because of Sword and Shield! The games were super fun! Expect an opinion on every SS pokemon soon! Also types are in no disearnable order.REASONS :
Fighting type is Emboar. It was technically my first ever pokemon, because when Black and White came out when I was seven, I was "too young" for a DS or Pokemon game, so I was basically serving as audience for my brothers' game. However he did secretly let me play and I felt attached to Emboar. I grew a very tight bond with it, and have kept it for nearly a decade.
Honorable Mention : Falinks
Falinks is one of my favorite new pokemon, I find it adorable! ... or I find them adorable. But Falinks is a good runner up!
Ghost type is Dragapult. An update to this list with the five Galar pokemon here. But before Dragapult I didn't feel attached to any other Ghost type. I liked Gengar and Mimikyu, and still really do. The problem is I never used one of any. Dragapult however, presented a challenge to me to fully evolve it. I also love how the spiritual drake is literally motherly, but kills its children.
Honorable Mentions : Gengar and Mimikyu
Same reasons I presented above, but I never used one or got super attached to either of them. I do still really really like them!
Psychic type is Gardevoir. I've always liked this pokemon, not has much has a child though. YouTube videos helped me know, and knowing is half the battle! But in recent years, it has grown on me so much, that I consider it one of my top five favorite pokemon of all time.
Honorable Mention : Galarian Ponyta
Normally Psychic types aren't my favorite because they're all very serious. I say has Gardevoir is my favorite. But Galarian Ponyta is a swirl of fun, and also just fucking adorable!
Fairy type goes to Alolan Ninetales. It's the only form on this list, and I think it's deserved. It's a beautiful, majestic, and adorable pokemon. Way better then regular Ninetales. Ninetales just looks ... kinda bland and clumpy. Is that the right word? I guess.
Honorable Mention : Primarina
After defending this thing for so many years after having a passion for Popplio, really had Primarina grow on me. Lana's is also pretty cool.
Fire type is Arcanine. Arcanine has been a favorite since I first got introduced to Pokemon. It's one of those classic pokemon that can actually back it up, besides nostalgia. It's also a blast - or Fire Blast - to use.
Honorable Mention : Darmanitan, Infernape, Torkoal, Chandelure, Talonfalme, and Raboot
All of these pokemon were actually so close to the spot, you have no idea. All of them have either brilliant concepts, great designs, are fun to use, or more!
Snorlax takes the cake on Normal. It was very close between Snorlax and another pokemon, but Snorlax is just so damn similar to Arcanine in terms of my criteria. A pokemon that fuels nostalgia, but has a design that helps it and is not just liked for the generation one status.
Honorable Mention : Stoutland
Stoutland is such a good boy. And it has the same thing has Snorlax and Arcanine, but it's missing one thing : nostalgia. That one small factor passes it to Snorlax.
Corviknight has flown into my heart very quickly. I liked it since the beginning of its reveal, but using it not only on my team, but on the main competitive ground, has really had it grow.
Honorable Mention : Toucannon
The vibrant colors, has well has being based off of my second favorite animal, and a bad-ass appeal, really had it grow on me fast.
Poison Type is Toxtricity. Both forms. A badass design and premise, and also typing, and also me not having another special attachment to another Poison type minus like, Crobat, has made it win the spot.
Honorable Mention : Crobat
Duh.
Incineroar wrassles with Sneasel and Scrafty for the Dark type but wins out for me having genuine attachment for it. I didn't like it at first but it quickly grew on me for it's personality, Semi, and gameplay.
Honorable Mention : Sneasel and Scrafty
Again, duh.
Drednaw wins for Rock. Rock is my least favorite type, I only have an attachment to like ... four pokemon? And it's only for Armaldo, Lycanroc, and Boldore! But Drednaw being introduced made me love it. I was worried at first because I knew I was choosing Grookey, and I was sure Rillaboom would be Rock type. But luckily, it was pure. Literally.
Honorable Mentions : Boldore, Lycanroc, and Armaldo
Already explained.
Grass type is swiped by Sceptile. It was my favorite for nine years, for Pete's sake! No consideration involved, it was a clear win out.
Honorable Mentions : N/A
Steel Type is getting pierced by Escavilier. Why? ... purely for design mate. I literally have no attachment to any other Steel type, eh. But I do like the cavalier and bug fusion. Minus, you know. Speed.
Honorable Mentions : N/A
Ice type stores my favorite pokemon of all time, Dewgong! No consideration required, and I've gone on record before about this.
Honorable Mentions : N/A
Electric type is Ampharos. To my degree, my first ever ACTUAL pokemon game was Heart Gold, at age eight. I was a dumb little boy, and my brother swiped my Totodile, Noctowl, and Shiny Gyarados into his Black version. So ... I picked up a Mareep. I trained it and dub it has my first pokemon ever owned. I have such a strong and personal attachment to Lighthouse the Ampharos, that I dub it, not only has the best Electric type, but it's top four!
Honorable Mentions : Alolan Raichu
I love it, but not has strongly has Ampharos.
Seismitoad is quaking when it lands in the Ground type favorites. A good design, beastly stats, and it having a fancy little story really beefs it. So, Ampharos was the first pokemon I ever OWNED. But I used Seismitoad FIRST in my brothers' version. I consider Seismitoad my pokemon. It hit Level 100 first and Naveen will always win out. In fact, I still have Lighthouse and Naveen in my Pokebank.
Honorable Mentions : Literally still N/A.
Bug Type is picked up and swarmed by Vikavolt, which was a very hard fight. Heracross nearly won out for beastly design, memorable appearances in anime, and being used on my competitive team, but Vikavolt just ... achieves that all better. Well, minus anime appearances. I've also grown to love MandJTV's Vikavolts' Havoc and Ion.
Honorable Mention : Heracross
All explained.
Dragon type has our last newcomer, Appletun! He's a friend. Also, a draconic worm that infests an apple and gets baked into a ONE FOOT apple pie? Come on! No competition!
Honorable Mentions : Garchomp and Noivern
Noivern and Garchomp are both heavily used in my competitive team. Dracula and my three Garchomp, Massacre, Quake, and Garch all destroy every one on the premises.
And lastly, Blastoise wins for Water. This was SO closely a tie between Buizel, because Buizel is my Twitch mascot (you should follow @thebuizelballoon) but Blastoise just wins, purely because I made a rule for no pre-evolutions. Other wise Clobbopus, Magnemite, and Buizel would of won.
Honorable Mentions : Kingdra
Was only here for design. Other than that ...
There it is! All done now, enjoy my shitty cropping.
