So this all started with an MSN chat. Somehow we got on the subject of how it's almost a requirement for a princess to be held captive, and then be rescued. Turns out her main OC, Jade, is a NINJA princess! Now, I don't know if there's some kind of exemption for ninjas, but we decided not in this case! So we made it an art trade!
I don't know about everyone else, but I think a situation where the damsel is in quicksand is one of the more dramatic scenarios. I would go where the chick is swallowed by a giant monster, and then the hero has to fight the monster, BUT not only would that be difficult to depict, also, I found out that those sort of "eaten" scenarios are actually a fetish. So I went with quicksand. And of course, Stryder comes to save the day, cargo pants and all.
This one I'm pretty proud of! Not only did I get a texture for the pit figured out, but I'm getting the hang of the multiply function AND figured out a trick for a better "atmospheric" appearance!

A truly magnificent piece of artwork, indeed! Let me start by critiquing the characters. Stryder's facial expression really sets the mood; he looks utterly surprised and confused as to why Jade(I think that's her name) is bound and stuck in the quicksand. But he also looks rather determined to save her no matter what the cost.
He looks like the hero every girl dreams of.
Onto Jade; the anatomy is spot on, and I can't find anything to critique on it. She looks absolutely terrified, which is how most of us would look if we were in her situation.
As for the backround, it's pretty good. I love how the forest is dark and that adds much to the impact of the piece. You can't help wondering if there's something evil lurking in the forest.
Overall, fantastic job.
But one thing bugs me; it seems this scene(girl getting rescued by the boy from quicksand) happens in a lot of books and movies.
