The Perils of Penelope Pitstop
That was one series that I used to watch back in my childhood when it started syndication on the old UHF afternoon block. That was in those days before cable television made it all obsolete. Penelope was a kind of unique character from the Hanna-Barbera stable: a contemporary mirror version of the old Vaudville trope about the damsel in distress (you'd recognize the silent movie scene of the cloaked villain tying a poor girl to train tracks in many episodes).
There's not many of us who're old enough to remember that show. Thanks for the posting!

Thanks for message, I used to love watching the Perils of Penelope Pitstop when I was a young-un too. I don't know which came first though Wacky Races or Penelope Pitstop.
Im assuming that Penelope got a spin off series from Wacky races just as Dasterdly and Muttley did.

I just checked it out. I never thought of her originally featuring in Whacky Races along with Dick Dastardly and Muttley. I guess my impressionable young mind got 'em switched around. I was also wondering what the name of her arch-villain was, and the gang of midgets who were always trying to rescue her were (The Hooded Claw, and the Anthill Mob). Pretty much everything there was a parody of the Silent Era Hollywood tropes.
Dick and Muttley featured as villains in Stop That Pidgeon! Poor fellows couldn't be successful counterintelligence agents if the bird actually fell onto their laps.
