I love long distance shots like this. I don't know if your sony has manual controls but try a higher F setting and a lower exposure to get more of the shot in focus (longer focus range)

actually im trying to get a new camera because i do have problems with my sony and the focus but i will check it out and see what i can do with this one. thanks

I don't know how much you have to spend but I LOVE my fuji S5000... manual controls, makes photography a little more involving. Almost like shooting with an old film SLR. Cost me around $550 with camera, bag, rechargeable batteries, 128 mb xD card, and 4 year warantee from best buy. Expensive, but definitely money well spent in my opinion.
