Description
In the virtual world of SecondLife, as the seasons change in SL as well as RL, the mass of incredibly creative builders and landscapers are out in full force to use their SL building talents to showcase to all the residents their expressions of simulated beauty of these season changes. This was no different in November/December of 2010 when so many amazing SL Landscapers created some amazing sims/parcels of land to show the beauty of winter! These season changes in SL are also exciting times for me and all my fellow SL Virtual Photographers as we jump from new found beautiful sim to the next. This photo is of a Christmas / Winter Sim that is dedicated to a group of builders called DAMINO ANIMUS whom are part of the huge group of "Sands Of Freedom" sims in SecondLife (more than 9
connected sims last I counted and used for biking with all the inter-connected roads). This group created and showcased this winter sime of which a small forest/bush outcrop of their build caught my eye.
I loved the peace and quietness that this small area expressed to me. As is the case in Winter where you have snow (like where I live), the winterscapes are somewhat ironic as the white snow covers most of the colors of the ground leaving only a few exceptions poking through AND nature also removes most of the bright colors from the plants during winter - leaving the mostly monotone browns of the trees and branches behind. Yet, with such few colors remaining in winter, the few that remain seem to be magnified when SPLASHED on the winter whites.
As such, I called this scene the "SPLASH OF WINTER".
Sadly a case that is all too frequent in Secondlife - like the passage of an instance of winter - thise beautiful SL Sim build has been torn down by the builder group as they prepare the sim for their next expression of artistic landscape beauty. So, I have provided the SL Landmark location but no reason to go there as this scene is no longer there.
There is only one main photo in this SL photomanipulation, the remaining 7 photoshop texture layers I used were to provide the colors and enhancements to the main photo.

SECONDLIFE "VIRTUAL PHOTOGRAPHY" PERMISSIONS STATEMENT:
This artwork is a Photo Manipulation that includes photo(s) taken within the virtual 3D worlds of SecondLife (aka SL). For those not aware of SL, in-world virtual photography of the 3D content created inside SL for use inside or outside of SL if taken on lands permitted by the content creator to take virtual photography is agreed to by all residents of the SL service and display their 3D creations in SL. This is formally agreed to by all SL residents as part of the Legal Terms of Service agreement with LindenLab Inc - the owner/operator of SL. The rights are equivilent to that of photographers in real life to take photographs of real life objects, subjects, scenery.
As such, formal permissions have been given to use these SL photographs as I abide by the conditions to take Virtual Photography in SL. I go a step further and even credit the 3D content creator and the location of the photo (like GPS in real life) when this creator in SL can be identified. This is not mandatory - but I do it because I feel they deserve it. As a DA Group Admin that is reviewing group submissions, please accept this statement as formal credit/permission even if you might not fully understand the concept of Virtual Photography. Thank you for your understanding.
