I personally disagree with what you had to say regarding Celestia's muzzle, but that's simply a matter of opinion. As for her mane; I intentionally dulled it with a shade of red to both suit the 'red' theme, as well as to keep her mane color from being too obtrusive against the rest of the drawing.
However, I do understand your concern with my sense of lighting. That's certainly something I can improve on in the future.
