Tried something new this year since it's my first Christmas on my own (
and Mat ) So I went with a completely un-traditional color scheme. Bronze/brown and blue. The tree ended up looking very victorian 
which is kind of what I was aiming for. Moral of the story: don't be afraid to try something different for x-mas colors. I did black and silver last year
