Chapter 1: Robbery gone wrongSometimes I wonder if I did the right career choice. Sure I love my job and all but it’s always the same. Get in work, do paper work, talk with my stockholders, laugh at the occasional smart ass that tries to rob this place, and even sleep at work when I can’t bother to get home. I spend more time here then my own home. This bank is my home, and I am proud to be its owner. Sure I may not have much of a life outside of these walls but that’s ok. My employees are my friends after all. We all work with respect for one and another. I may be their superior but we talk like if knew each other since high school.
Nah, I wouldn’t exchange this life for anything. This is where I belong. Just opening the main door and getting in the lobby makes me feel already better from the Monday slog. My employees already at work with a few early customers making their bank transaction for the day. Already this is starting to be a great day.
"Good morning Mr. Victor." Said Samantha, one of the secretory here, greeting me has always. She’s always so friendly, so full of life. I am honestly amaze on how she does it.
"Good morning Samantha. Did you have a good weekend?"
"It was lovely, how about your."
"Quiet."
"You always like being alone Victor. Why not you come at my place this Friday? We could have some fun together." And she’s trying to hit on me again. When is she going to take no for an answer. I got enough on my plate has it is.
"I’ll have to see if I’m busy or not Sam."
"Well I’ll be here if you need me." She gets back to her work and I continue my way to my office. Has always, I greet every employ with them greeting me back. We have so many different people working here, guards keeping this place safe, bankers making the money and the little guys that keep this place up hold like the janitor or the secretaries here. No one has a job less important than someone else here. A machine needs all of its parts to work after all.
“Hey Victor, I’ve been looking for you.” I turn around and see John, my right hand man coming at me with some papers. He doesn’t usually come to me like that, if anything he doesn’t come to me at all when there’s a problem. He knows what to do without me and just reports me what he did later that day. Wonder what he needs me for?
“Is there a problem John?”
“Not exactly, but this is something that needs your attention.” He takes out a picture from our security cameras with a red circle underlining a man dress in black caught within our vault area.
“This man was caught by our cameras yesterday. We were capable of capturing him and the police pick him up before he took anything.” Continued John.
“Why are you telling me this then? Should it be Ronald telling me this stuff?” I answer back.
“Normally yes, but I just have a gut feeling that it’s more than Ronald would tell me.”
“What you mean?”
“Whatever that person was, Ronald put him in them most well defend prison cell in this building, and refuse to tell me why? We never use that cell unless we absolutely need to. I feel something is up.” Ronald hiding something. Why would John even come to that conclusion? He knows very well of our trust policy I have establish many years ago.
“You really think my head of security would hid something form me. He’s like a father to me, I trust him with my life.”
“I know how you feel about him but something isn’t right. I don’t like this one bit.” He walks away leaving me that his last words. Why would John even get into that kind of conclusion? I know he can get paranoid but going to tell that Ronald would double-cross me; that’s instant. What happened yesterday when I wasn’t there to cause this untrusted amongst my men? I quickly get to my office before that train of thought consumed me.
Entering my office brings me some comfort. My office was always my second home to me. I spend half of my life here whatever it be working for clients or fixing any old problem the bank has suffer. Whatever the case, I’m glad to have this place to myself. And it’s just so nostalgic. It still hold its design from the 20th century. Makes me feel nostalgic of my family history: of a simple and easier time. But most of all, I can see my beautiful art collection in display. It’s not the usual of what most people would consider art but to me there is nothing more beautiful than a ring. A ring can tell so much of the wearer. It can tell the wealth of the individual, the interests, the love, the history or so much more of someone. It’s incredible what a ring can mean.
But watching my collection isn’t going to do my work for me. I immediately get to my desk and turn my computer on before starting. Like usual, the computer is taking his sweet old time; I seriously need to replace this dinosaur. But this does give me time to call Ronald and ease my worries on with what John told me. I grab for the phone and dial the number to my head of security. He doesn’t waste time to answer.
“Victor, what honor do I have to be called this early?” Said Ronald in a pleasant tone.
“Ha ha, real funny.” I said lightly lathing. “I’m actually here for a heist that happened yesterday.”
“Really? I’m a bit surprise Victor. He wasn’t much a treat to begin with. We didn’t even need to police to get him.”
“It’s not at actually, it’s what John told me about it.” I could hear a deep sigh from the other line.
“What did he say?”
“He said that you are hiding something.”
“Oh for Christ sake, I’m not hiding anything. If anything I’m just surprise of how far that criminal got to our vaults. There’s nothing to worry about. No one has ever successfully rob this placing in over sixty years and I’m not planning to lose that record. I got you cove…” He stops mid-sentence with total silence replying back.
“Ronald, still there?” Background noise are the only reception I’m getting. A few people starts screaming orders in the background until I hear someone picking up the phone again.
“Mr. Victor.” Started Ronald on the phone. “There is a currently a heist in progress and we have activate the lockdown. Stay in your office until we lift the lockdown and activate the silent alarm if anything happens to you.” A heist, this early? Wouldn’t it be more affective if they did this at night inside of when we have our full staff? What a bunch of idiots.
“Alright, you know the…” Before I finish my sentence, my phone uncontrollable throws itself out of my hand and hung up itself, just like that. Fear cannot even describe what I am feeling. My chair quickly lose control and moves me in a half-circle showing me to a human-like monster standing behind me, staking me. The creature having human like qualities has yellow skin, a white fur color around his neck and animalistic hears on top of his head. Not to mention his long nose creeping out of his face and the medallion he’s holding. I attempt to make a run for it but I get force back on my chair involuntary and become incapable of standing up. It feels like multiple invisible hands are grabbing me and holding me down.
“Please, make yourself comfortable.” Said the creature staring right at me with a smirk on his face.
“What are you and what do you want with me?”
“I go by many names, but you can call me by Hypno. Simple yet effective.” What the hell does he means by that? Is that some kind of joke? If it is some joke then it’s too real. I can feel presser on my neck like a knife ready to cut me open. I can’t even move with his invisible force hold me.
“Hope I’m not hurting you too much. It would be awful if you would have gotten hurt.” He says has he slowly chocking my neck with his invisible force. How is he even holding me with? Some kind of mind control? That shouldn’t even be possible.
“What do you want you monster?” I say coughing out my sentence.
“I’m not more of a monster then you are, I just hold more power then you. If you could do this, you would of abuse it a long time ago.” And now he thinks he’s better than me, just great. I’m stuck with a psychopath with mental powers; simply wonderful.
“I’m sure you’re not here to lector me in what makes us a monsters.” I say trying to move the conversation before he gets angry.
“You catch on fast, I like that. And you are very right; I just want one thing from you. Just one.”
“You came in my office without anyone noticing, tied me up without even needed to touch me and you want one thing?” This is seriously mental. What did I do to deserve this?
“Let me tell you something; with all the power I have, I would have taken all of you money by now. Money is not what I want.”
“Then what in hell do you want form me?” He comes closer to me face up until I can feel his breath. The unpleasant feeling makes me shiver a bit.
“The Dimensional Gem, that’s what I what.”
“I don’t even know what that is, never mind if I have it or not.” And now he’s going to get angry from this. I may has well be already dead. But to my surprise, he gives a chilling smile.
“I should have expected this. Why would a human know of the gem anyway? Oh well, time for plan B.” With the same power holding me hostage, my chair moves back to my computer having the monster behind me.
“Now, go in your databank and search Pokéuman.” I says screeching in my ear.
“What?” What the hell is Pokéuman? Why would I even have a file call pokéuman?
“If you don’t know anything, then your father should have had something about the gem placement in here before he died.” My father. Why would my father know something about this? And how those this creature know anything about my father anyway?
“And what makes you think that my father would know more than me?”
“Your father was one of us, you are not. Now search before I lose my patience.” He frees my upper body from his restrain but retain my legs. I quickly turn to my computer and open the commend files, which is connected to everything inside this bank. Anything from camera location to daily trades, I have a backdoor to it. Not control of everything but I can access it with ease. The window with all of the commend regarding the database opens.
“Now type in Pokéuman.” I do has he said with only one file matching its description.
There is actually a file call Pokéuman and I never knew about it. What the hell. How is that even possible? Why the hell did my father hind this from me?
“See, what did I tell you.” Continue the creature sounding pleased. "Now open it up.” Opening it up, I can block by a pop-up asking for the password. I enter my master key but get refuse access. My master key is supposed to work on any files within the system, no way to can refuse it.
“What is taking so long human?” Said the monster taping his finger and my shoulder, the first time he actually had physical contact with me.
“It won’t open.” I say quietly.
“What? Say again?” He continues sounding more aggravated.
“It won’t open.” My chair moving by itself turns around and force myself to face the creature again.
“Do not test me. Open it.” He says loudly chilling my blood.
“I don’t have the password.”
“You will find the password or I’m going to rip you brain out to find it myself.”
“I can’t. I don’t have the password.” A force makes its way on my hand pressing my skin to my bones. Slowly, my skin starts to break and creates pike holes in the middle of my palm. That same invisible hand let’s go of me and let my hands slowly bleed form the wound with such a pain.
“Keep holding back and I’ll cut in even deeper until every single muscle of your break under the presser.” The chair turns around and I quickly get back on the computer and type in anything to unlock it, anything. Any password that could work, anything I can remember my father liking or doing. Anything to open this god damn thing.
“Open that door, NOW!” Yelled a voice from the door. Within seconds, the door bust open with armored SWAT officers rusting in my office. A few stop in their track observing the creature behind me while others start to fire right away. The bullets fly close to me but it him and they all hit the target. The creature falls back from his wounds before he disappears. He just disappear in a flash of light. Honestly, with what he did before, I can expect him to do anything.
“Sir, are you all right?” Ask the officers that lead the team while taking off his mask still in shock. He, or rather she lets her hair fall of showing a clear facial expression of fear. Slowly, everyone stands down and look at each other terrified.
“Been better. But you saw that thing didn’t you? I’m not going crazy right?” They all stand silent at my comment. None of them wanted to answer the question.
“How could I’ve miss it? It was standing right behind you.” Reply the lead officer.
“I’m just glad you guys came. I thought I was dead.”
“It’s alright sir, you’re safe now.” We all just stare at each other at a loss of words. No one says anything, no one dare to talk about what just happen.
“I think I’m going to need some medical attention.” I finally said breaking the silence by reviling my hands to the group.
“Yes sir, we will get right on that.” They all leave my office and leave me alone where I finally break and cry on my desk. This was too much for me, too much for one man to handle like this. The creature shouldn’t have existed, but yet it did. I even have my wounds to prove it.
And I was having such a good day too.

This is brilliant! I love the way you've approached this, and there's so much character to it already! Is this your first story in the group?

This story defiantly has a neat idea, looking how the Pokeumans war could affect regular people's lives. I can't wait to see what comes out of this.
One thing that I do have to point out though is that there are quite a few spelling errors such as using "presser" instead of "pressure". Maybe read through it again and find the errors. Either than that, it's a good and interesting story. Keep up the good work.

Well thanks for the comment.
But i guess that i didn't catch enough of those errors during my re-reads on it. At least i know that i still need to work on that.
