My shift is up again. More rested then a last time I head back into the prison part of the military wing of our base. Once more I meet up with Eddy who tried again leave me be without much of a conversation. Checking the terminal again and only one prisoner again. I guess he’s going to stay here until farther notice. I grab a chair and drag it until I reach the cell of the human, where he is laying in his bed. At least I’ll try to pass the time with him.

“Oh welcome again. Nice to see you again.” He said almost in a happy tone.

“Never saw a prisoner this happy to see me before.”

“As I said, you’re the only one that isn’t treating me like a pile of shit. I appreciate that, even if we are standing on different sides.”

“Name is Mathew.” I say to him with a small smile.

“Please to meet you. You can call me Arthur.”

"So Arthur, I was capable to check your phone earlier today and well...."

"You saw the ones I took with my partner." He say cutting me off.

"Yes and well looking at them I notice that you and your partner were having at some kind of party. And I think what I found truly amazing is that he had no trace of being brainwash.”

"As i said, he willingly join us. It's not like all of us are force to do what we do. I mean did you join the PRT out of your own free will correct?"

"Alright fair enough. But still, it kind of bothers me.”

“How so?”

“The things that higher command told me about you guys are anything but nice things.”

“I undrstand now. You think that we are all evil and want to enslave your kind. I get it, some of pokéxinction can be beyond evil given the right moment. However, we aren’t all like that. In fact we been moving away from those ways for years now. A lot of people myself including want to see an end to this war. That way we can start to create world where both humans can live and live peacefully. Imagine if we were to work together Mathew. You guys superpowers and our technology could help advance humanity far greater than using these resources to get the better out of the other one. At least that’s what I would want.”

“That does sound like a good goal yes.”

“I know that you and pretty much everyone here is afraid of what could happen. But we can’t expect the worse out of everyone. We are better than that. I know that the pokéumans can be a bit extreme with their mentality but just talking to you makes me realise that it’s not as bad as it could be. You understand what I am saying.”

“I understand what you are saying.”

“At least we can agreed to one thing.” He takes his small cup, fills it with water and cheers me with it until he chugs it down. He’s an amusing guy that’s for sure. The rest of the night goes on with small talk while we both dodge our organization military status. Although some gossip from the other did get through. Funny how that works. Before I knew it was the end of my shift and Eddy was back to do his part. From what I can see Arthur is sleeping during the day and staying awake. I’m guessing that Eddy and he don’t get along too well.

The next few days continue as such. We talk for a while mostly small talk but sometimes we would continue our conversation about the different ideology. Each time we did i continue to wounder if i was really in the right. Sure the PRT aren't all bad guys but I seems like we doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. On one night however i come to talk to Arthur to see him in pain and wounded.

"You don't look so good Arthur." I say to him a bit worried.

"Yeah, let's just say that your co-workers aren't the nice when interrogating." He seem hurt enough where he doesn’t get up from his bed. I get myself to the medkit we have under the terminal and get the necessary supply he would need.

"Here take this." I throw him the bandage through the cell bars. He grabs it and use his sink to apply some cold water at his wounds.”

"Thanks, I needed that."

"Sorry about that, I never realize that how brutal they could be."

"What? You never knew? You can’t be that low rank to not know that.”

“I guess I did, just didn’t want to believe it was so.”

“I can relate to that. Sometimes we forget that this is a war like another war before hand. Something it would be nice to stop."
"Hopefully one day Arthur."

"I sure hope so." We talk for a but but clearly Arthur wasn't in the mood to talk anymore. At least he look fine now. I finish the night spinning around in my chair out of pure boredom and whatever else time wasting task i could do here. Thankfully the time did pass and Eddy came to replace me. We didn't say much again and i make my way to the door.

"Mathew, the commander have some stuff he would like to know?" Say Eddy before I leave the room.

"Which is?" He looks at me almost irritated.

"From the security videos he notice that you been very nice to our prisoner, the human." Is he really going to be on my case for this?

"You mean Arthur? What about him?"

"Well you see, he's our enemy."

"He's also a human being. Sure he's on the wrong side but that doesn't mean that he should be treated like an animal."

"But he's just a human. I don't think they can understand our point of view."

"Of course, course. I’ll keep that in mind.” I say to him biting my lips. Great, he’s a human hater. Like we need more of those. Why do these people not understand that we are still human, even if we don’t look like it.

“Good, I am glad we had this talk.” He say returning to his chair.  I leave the room and head toward my room with steam coming out of my ears. Human hater, human hater; I’m surrounded by a bunch of human hater. Do these people even care about the civilization on top of us? They must if we are still stuck here in fear of them. We fear humanity yet do we nothing to bring us closer to them. We may as well be aliens to the rest of the world with the way we are acting. This entire base is about rescuing soon to be pokéumans and then train them. Is this what I have join? State of isolation on the borderline to extremism. How many more generations will it take before we see normal humans as nothing but evil and actively wage war on the populous?

No, I can’t let this happen. I can’t associate myself with the PRT anymore. Maybe Arthur is right. Security is more important than individual freedom. But more importantly we need to be united with the rest of the world, even if we have to lose the war.

No one is around, good. Makes it easier to raid the armory. What would be useful for this evasion? Maybe a laser pistol would do the trick. I don’t really need one but Arthur will be useful if he doesn’t have some kind of way to defend himself. What else? Yes, a breaching kit. This will allow me to temper with the electronics, especially cameras. I almost feel bad for taken this stuff now. The only reason I have this master key is because they trust me and many more elites, and I am breaking that trust. But I am out of options now.

Security room, that shouldn’t be too far from here. Making my way as fast as possible only to arrive at the security. Of course it’s a rookie taken care of it and of course he let the door open. I knock on the door gently and see around a wobbuffet in control of the cameras.

“I don’t think I’ve seen you around these parts?” Says the rookie face at me. The wobbuffet look at me with the outmost boredom.

“I’m just part of the night guard checking things quickly.” I walk up to him without any hesitation coming out of him. He seems to believe me. For now at least.

“This place controls all of the cameras in the base?” I say to within striking distance of him.

“Well yes, although all I can do it alert when something goes wrong. It’s not that interesting of a job.” He quickly turns around leaving his backside wide open. Almost too easy.

“Well it’s about to be.”

“Wait what?” I grab his backside and crunch him before he would even react. The type advantage did quick work of him. Soon he was on the ground incapable to move. I better do this quick. The real patrol will not take their time and I do not know how much I have to do this. Upload the repeater into the camera fee. This should buy me enough time to get him out of there and escape. I just hope they can forgive me later on.

Now to get Arthur out of here. I close the door shut and speed walk my way to the prison area. It almost my shift but I won’t have time to wait around. Every second is a second closer to me getting caught.

I entre the prison as soon as I get there with Eddy at the terminal. He turns around confuse.

"Oh Mathew, you are here early." Say Eddy looking at me. He may have already notice the laser pistol. This may not end well.

“And what are you doing with that?” Alright, now I am out of options.

"I honestly don't have anything to say to you anymore." I took up the gun and shot him. He drop down paralyze. One less problem to deal with. I dash to the terminal and open the cell door in which Arthur is. Without wasting a moment I dash to his prison and watch him as he looks around confuse right in the middle of the corridor.

"What are you doing?" Yell Arthur staring at me confuse.

"What does it look like getting you out of here."

"You can't be serious." He just looks at me like he cannot believe me.

"I just shot the day guard does it look like I'm kidding here?"

"Fair enough. But how are we getting out of here."

"There an exit teleporter not far from here. As long as they don't notice that you get out."

"Won't the cameras notice us?"

"I put it on a loop, but it won't be long before someone notice it. Now come on, we cannot waste time." I quickly pass him the laser pistol and signal him to follow me. We make our way outside the prison as we start to sneak around. The teleportation room isn’t far from here but if we are too sloppy then it’s game over.

Toward the hall we check back to back passing through the opening that each door made. Thankfully no one was making their way at us, it was always across to another hall. No one seem to have notice us.

“The teleportation room is close by. Only a few more door ways.” I whisper to Arthur still right behind me. He nods at me. A few more dashing and halting from each doorway. It’s past most people active duty so the halls are quiet. If there was any more people then it may have been impossible to get pass this place. The last hall way. A bit of a starch but if we dash then we can get there no problems.

“We have to make it fast. There is nothing between us and the door to the teleportation room. You ready?”

“Ready?” We quickly run across the hallway and within seconds we arrive at the door. First checking to opening but it fails. The door is look. It’s a good thing they give us a master key for most of the rooms inside the base, including the teleportation room. Locking the door making sure like we were never hear to begin with. The terminal to the teleporter room is right in front of us and leads to a small haly way to where the teleporter is. It protected by move proof glass in case of an accident of any kind. Now to operate this thing. I don’t usually work with it but I remember learning the essential in advance training. I’ll give the PRT one thing, when their troops aren’t busy hitting each other in the face they actually train them to be Swiss army knife in just about any situation. If I activated and enter the coordinates as well as the timer then it should bring us far from this place. Perfect the teleporter is already booting up.

“Hey what are you doing in there?” Say a nidoking walking inside the room. I though no one saw us. Not good. He look at both of us, first in shock then in anger.

"TRAITOR!" Yell the nidoking as he charge at me. He takes my by his horns and carry me across the room hitting the back wall. Retaliating against his attack I dragon claw on his back and to wherever I can reach. He scream in pain but refuse to let go of me. However Arthur gets into position and quickly fires his gun at the nidoking hitting the mark. Soon he become nothing more than a unconscious pile of meat.

"Nice shot." I said to him before heading off to the terminal. Just a little more on this. Coordinates should be close enough to the city but not so close that sleeper agents could find us.

Red flashing light illuminate the room with sirens blasting sound into our eardrums.

“Shit we been compromise!” Yell Arthur going into a small panic. I am running out of time, I have to do this quick. The lockdown has been activated. Quickly I enter the command for the teleporter opening a large gate of light from the other side of the glass. This is my saving grace. It teleporter doesn’t run on the normal power generator so they need manually shut down it’s own power generator for them to close it. Although they must be on their way to do exactly that.

“I don’t know how long we have before the lockdown cut off its power.”

“Understood.” He rushes to the portal in no time with me following close behind. He goes first in and disappear before me.

“HOW DARE YOU!?” I quickly turn around seeing my commander alongside other of the Elite. All on the other side of the glass, incapable to touch me. Looking right at them I see the eyes of my commander looking straight at me. Both a stare of disappointment and angry fuel his eyes. But I dare not say a thing. I do a final salute to my former commander and dive into the portal. In the neck of time the teleporter close behind me leaving to crash into the grass of the local forest. It was cold and dirty, a bit like what I was feeling. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but one day, I will make it up to them. Even if that means defeating them in this war. As I get myself up I see Arthur trying to help me up. It doesn’t even take a second for us to be on our feet.

“We should make a run for it before they turn the teleporter on again.” I say to Arthur as he pick himself up from the dirt.

“Then let’s go.” We started to run far away from this place. I made sure that I did not outrun him with my natural speed but as we brush by the forest we soon made it were the cities light get pass the bush line.

“I need a break.” Says Arthur leaning on a tree catching his breath.

“I think we are far enough. They aren’t going to chase us through the city anytime soon.” I told him.

“I have to ask. Why?”

“Because you were right. We have become isolated in our battle for our freedom. So much so that we forget that we are not the only one habitat of this planet. Everyone should be allow to live in piece, not just us. That is why I join the PRT and it’s only now that I realize that it was never about saving the world, but to move our own agenda.” He look at me smiling even if he was still breading heavily.

“I’m glad that is how you feel about it. It does make me happy that our talk was worth something to the both of us. Now we should head back to my base. If I can use my phone when I can just call them right now to pick us up.”

“I couldn’t get your phone. Would be have been too suspicious on my part if I try to get it.” With the thought of that I take out my own phone and smash it on the ground.

“What are you going?”

“All of our phone have a tracking device in them. Good if we get captured, bad if we don’t want to be follow.”

“I get it. Let’s get to a payphone of some kind then.” I give an hand to Arthur so we can continue our way.

"Halt." Surprise some man as they came out of the bushes. All of them were holding laser rifles at us. We slow hold our hands up without resisting.

"Ha, this is a present surprise." From the score of that voice came a tryanitar smiling out us. Arthur soon had a large smile on his face as he run at the ground type and give him a big hug.

"Alex, there you are." He said still holding him. "I honestly did not think I would ever leave that place Alex. I'm so happy to see you."

"I’m happy to see you too. And who is your friend here?” He point at me with his eyes still holding his friend with his two arms.

“He’s Mathew, he help me get out of there.” The tryanitar signals for his man to hold their fire in which they comply. At least I’m not at gunpoint anymore.

“I don’t think I have ever seen you before Mathew.”

“I’m PRT, or should I say ex-PRT now.”

“Well it’s not often we see a PRT like you Mathew. I’m kind of impress if anything. But most of all thank you. I was starting to lose hope of finding that base of your so I could of gone and rescues Arthur myself.”

“It’s was the least I could do. I understand now what this war is about and I wish to join your ranks.”

“Of course. We are more than happy to have a new member to our team. We will get everything set up as soon as possible. Now come, it’s getting cold out here.” Without wasting a moment we head out of the forest, forward for a new life, a new promise, and a new cause.

Thanks. I wanted to do my best with this especially since this is my first story that a pokéuman is the main character.
