does convey a sense of sadness, perhaps thats just one of the feelings i get when looking at this img.
the rain drops are very reflective of times past and present as you mention. Also this img looks at what the future might hold for us...

I am really glad this evokes some emotion for you. That's exactly what I had intended.
YES! The point I was trying to make is that of the scary rate at which we are domesticating nature. Is that the point you felt it conveyed?

very much so, no matter how much domesticating of nature remember that wild creatures are still wild and instinct overrides most.

Hmmm...
Yes, this is a very interesting point! I guess pet cats killing mice although they fed by their owners so don't need mice for food is an example of this.
Thank you for this interesting point, which I will now add to my library of mental knowledge.

That looks very nice. ^_^ It's so peaceful when it rains and this makes me feel the same way. I just love sitting to watch it fall and start thinking about great times.

It was actually suggesting that the flowers are kinda sad as they can't feel the natural feeling of the rain on them any more, though they are very close, lol. A kinda of domesticated torture.
But I guess that was a bit ambiguous for me to convey, so I like your interpretation a lot, too!

Yeah, I realised there's some sadness involved with the flowers judging by your description. It's just harder for me to actually feel that in seeing the water on the window the way it is. I love running water. Like candles, I can just stare at it for hours. And it's usually a peacful feeling I get when I do that.

Don't worry- it was an obscure message I was trying to convey, lol.
Yeah, I am just trying to think of what kind of images I find soothing... hm, I guess I find music more soothing than certain images.
What kind of music do you listen to, btw?

Well...that mostly depends on what mood I'm in. I listen to movie soundtracks mostly. I think I'm more drawn toward easy-going stuff. Yet my favorite band is Within Temptation, which focuses on alternative, goth and hard metal rock. Weird huh? I only learned about them about two years ago. My sister were just web surfing and found one of their songs called "Angels" and sent me the link. It's the first band I've ever gotten interested in enough to actually buy their albums. There's one song by them that's more mellow, called "Somewhere" which is my favorite.

Um, I listened to a couple of tracks, Forgiven and What Have You Done. It's not really for me, lol. Reminds me of Evanescence a bit. Do you like them?

R-tistiC In reply to tractern [2009-05-20 15:53:13 +0000 UTC]
I LOVE them! They're the only band I actually have my own albums of. 3 of them to be exact. I have a friend who I managed to get hooked on them as well and she's commented that it's like a combination of Enya and Evanescence.
Those two songs you mentioned aren't really MY favorites. "What Have You Done" least of all actually. Maybe you should try listening to "Angels" instead. Or perhaps "Memories". You may or may not like them.
But if you're willing to at least give them a chance, here's the links.
Angels: [link]
Memories: [link] (I feel attached to this one for more personal reasons.)
If you're able to get through those first two, this one's my favorite.
Somewhere: [link]
I won't judge you if you don't like them. To be honest, not very many people either my sister or I have talked to have ever even HEARD of Within Temptation. Let alone like them. Some have even said that they're prejudice against them just because they were founded in the Netherlands. but of course, unfortunately, there's always SOMEONE going to be like THAT.
And my sister hasn't exactly had a great school career as far as meeting people like that.

Um, I listened to the first few seconds of Memories and it confirmed the fact that this band is not for me, lol. It was kinda relaxing and I do like Ambient music, but more artistic, avant-garde Ambient. Dramatic Metal-y Gothic music isn't my thing I am afraid.
But thanks for the links.
Prejudice against people from the Netherlands? Wow, some people are really ignorant... :/

Hmm. yeah. I figured as much. Then again, maybe Within Temptation just appeals better to girls in general. My brother likes them but I've run into some other guys who are a bit iffy about it. But I can't really say that since I only remember talking to any guys other than those two about it.
Oh boy. Here I go rambling on about nonsense again. And I'm not even sure what type of genre of music, I'M most drawn to. I just know I like the band.

Hmm. I like it. It doesn't really "grab" at me the way some other tracks do, (if you know what I mean) but it's pleasant enough that I'm willing to hear it again. Thanks.

Oh, right.
Well that was one of the chilled out ones. I only chose it cos you said you like some chilled out music.
Tell me what you type of mood you are in right now and I will find a track to fit your mood by one of my fave artists, Aphex Twin (same artist as that last track I linked you to).

I'm not sure even I know what mood I'm in right now. And really, I'd rather just look them up myself. Any recommendations of the names of certain tracks? I've never heard of the guys before, but that's probably because we live on opposite sides of the world. Have you ever heard of Mannheim Steamroller? They have a series of albums called Fresh Aire. They do instrumental stuff as well.

tractern In reply to R-tistiC [2009-05-21 14:31:42 +0000 UTC]
Um, the best album to listen to for Aphex Twin is the Richard D James album (that's the name of the one guy who is Aphex Twin).
I will take a look at Mannhein Steamroller.
Hm, listened and MySpace and it just kinda cheesy Christmas music. :/ I imagine the instrumental stuff is better, though. Please could you link me to it?

R-tistiC In reply to tractern [2009-05-21 16:36:57 +0000 UTC]
You found Christmas stuff? Yeah, they take a lot of the more common things and do their own version of them for a lot of it. They actually have an album where the did their own instrumentals of some Disney songs. I think it's really neat, but seeing as we seem to have different tastes in music, the Fresh Aire albums would probably be a better choice if originality is what you're looking for. Unfortunately I don't know of any links for those albums as not many people I know of have heard of them either. My dad really likes them though. They're pretty old, but I've learned to like them as I grew up listening to them. Especially around Christmas time. So even if you find it cheesy, yes, I also like the Christmas stuff.
I'll try to see if I can find SOMETHING on the Fresh Aire stuff though. When I get the TIME that is. Web-surfing isn't something I do very often.

That's cool- yeah, I have some bands that I listen to purely because I was brought up with it. 80s Rock such as Alice Cooper and Rush are examples of these. I still think they're okay now.
I just did a quick check and couldn't find anything on Fresh Aire. Oh well... I will look again later.
Don't worry about trying to find out- there are far better ways for you to spend your time.

Yeah, some of it was kinda cool.
Not sure how exciting or avant-garde it was really, though.
I like some of the music from the 90s- Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Autechre, Boards of Canada. SOme great stuff coming out. It's kinda funny, cos that was only a decade ago and I am already sorta reflecting on how great things USED to be and how crap they are now. I mean, I think proper Electronic music has had its hayday. Funny how people always moan that thinks used to be better though, eh? Not just old people that do it...

Yeah, not too bad. I got a nice level of drunkenness for the last few nights and, whilst there was a LOT of drama last night at a part at my house, it is mostly sorted now and everyone has dried their tears and are friends again, hehe.
I still haven't found a job yet, but I am going to town in a bit to collect these manga book from someone. I contacted them on this website called Freecycle, in which people give stuff they don't want away to other people. It's pretty cool. I might give one of the manga books to my friend who is quite ill atm. It might make her a little happier. A lot of people around me seem to be ill in some way atm. How is everything yor end? Everyone in the pink of health?
