Description
I had a few requests for a drawing tutorial for Lackadaisy so I figured, hey! Let's draw some stupid, whynot?Originally, it had a painting tutorial included, but it was getting to be too long, so I truncated it. That part might make it onto lackadaisycats.com when I hoist up there, though.

are you drawing on toned paper? how do you get that vintage looking effect on all your stuff? it looks amazing. and the tutorial is great, too. basic shapes and volumes is how i like to draw, so i found it rather helpful and it made sense to me.

Thanks I'm glad it was helpful.
I actually draw on standard printer paper with a regular #2 pencil. The tone is just a simple color balance adjustment in Photoshop.

Very useful, if not silly, tutorial. I shall certainly see what it can teach me about drawing better ^v^

This has to be the most fun I've ever had reading a tutorial, and trust me when I say I've read a lot. Perhaps the idea is not to paintstakingly show the aspiring artist EXACTLY what to do, but instead just make it look so much fun to do that they try until they get it. You've done that and more here. Even if I have somehow missed the instruction this does provide, I will at least have practiced how to laugh.
I look forward to the afore-mentioned painting tutorial, if you decide on it.

No no, I dont think you should wait.
I'd really like to see how you could rationalize your character, destroying a City with a grilled cheese sandwich.
That should make for some even better entertainment.
If the wheels in your head turn, and you can, your my damn hero for the year.
Anyways, I liked this tutorial.
Lots of humor, and you cant go wrong with humor.
Very informative, and I actually think I learned something more.
Hope to see more tutorials from you in the future; maybe something about how you can paint and entire town red, with just one bottle of ketchup?

Well, I'm not sure if it helped me understand how you draw them so... awesomely, but it was definitely the most fun I've ever had looking at a tutorial.
And I don't think it made me any stupider... hopefully.

Finally! A tutorial that people can actually enjoy! I must say, this certainly does make learning to draw like someone else fun. The grilled cheese sandwich really makes the posing overly dramatical. You can almost hear Rocky screaming, "MELTED CHEESE ON TOOOOOAST!!"

That one line made me giggle. All of my form-structure drawings look like that ... And I'll never be able to draw again without making a thumbnail full of pasta! XD
That's gonna be my preview next time I put something up on DA.

I have good reasons not to fav this:
-I don't ususally like tutorials.
-My favs list is well on its way to being glutted with dozens of your drawings already
But since I've never seen such fun commentary on a tutorial, I think I'll have to go ahead and fav it.
That, and I'm afraid of what that grilled cheese sandwich might do to me otherwise.

Damn it, I had to spend thousands of dollars and spend hours in front of an 18 x 24 drawing pad getting messy with charcoal to learn that and you're just giving it away. Gosh! You forgot the core shadows on your sphere and cone, by the way.

LOL humor
I bet he could destroy a city block or half of one with that sammich. Slip on it, it goes flying into the open window of a truck into a driver's eye, the driver swerves, hits a light pole, the light pole slams into...well yeah, something like that.
