Description I had a few requests for a drawing tutorial for Lackadaisy so I figured, hey! Let's draw some stupid, whynot?
Originally, it had a painting tutorial included, but it was getting to be too long, so I truncated it. That part might make it onto lackadaisycats.com when I hoist up there, though.

Dude. You get this every time but its friggen awnsome X3 I didn't sleep at all last night and just watched the sunrise from the small cornner which my computer sits. This not only 'helped' me a bit with the hole foreshortinging thing (slightly better then what anything else has..friggen shapes) but I laughed my tush off and woke up the enitre house hold. Sure. They want to tie me up and burn me at the stake now, but I'll go laughing my tush off either way :3 <3

if he is able to destroy that much of a city don't say it's impossible. if the mass of one pastrami sandwhich was converted to pure energy, it could run a room air conditioner for over 5 million years. just don't try and rationalize how he got his hands on a miracle weapon that converted sandwhiches into nuclear explosions.

also, food has a lot of energy in it's chemicle bonds. take some sugar, and some oxidizer and you've got rocket fuel. there is in fact a whole category of model rocketry based on food fuels. we take up over 2,000 to 2,500 Calories per day. that is enough energy to make a gram of water be heated from freezing to 2,000,000 to 2,500,000 degrees Celsius. or one liter to 2,000 to 2,500.

Don't knock food as weapons until you try it.

LoL, Thats gotta be one of the most entertaining (and useful) tutorials I've ever seen.

I'll definitely be using this. I have no idea how I managed to get through high school art and then about 7 years of Various design courses without anyone actually ever teaching me how to draw figures (or anything really), but I did. Is it odd that I've learnt more about drawing in the few months I've been here than I did thruout my entire (and rather expensive) artistic education?

OH, brilliant! One of my major problems with drawing character designs is that I don't map out the body and the pose AT ALL, I usually just work from top to bottom, and sometimes I get cut off on the bottom of a page or an edge, hahaha. D'oh!

Thatnks, this is really helpful.

Stupider, no. But then of course the skill with which you drew this is your specialty and it comes easily for you (a duh thing) . For the rest of us though, it will be a different story, I'm sure. The process that you used was lovely though, very clear and un-confusing. But there was one thing that I sort of found trouble with, however: the eraser part. How small would that kneaded eraser have to be in order to get the unwanted lines, and not attack or smudge the top lines? Outlining in something like pen would get rid of that problem, but you would still need the impermanence of the pencil in case mistakes were to be made. It just seems that the erasing process would take absolutely forever if you had to be so careful.

tracyjb In reply to Seryia [2006-06-13 16:06:20 +0000 UTC]

I generally find I don't need to be -that- careful...if I erase a little bit of something I didn't intend to, it's not hard to put it back (assuming I didn't erase it completely, but I'd almost have to be trying in order to do that). Darkening and cleaning up after erasing is basically what I meant by 'solidifying the lines'...I should have been more clear about what that meant, though.

Seryia In reply to tracyjb [2006-06-13 21:12:22 +0000 UTC]

That makes sense, but wouldn't the time count still be at large? How long did it take you to go through the motions for this example picture ?

Heh, quite the amusing take on the simplest of things. Even though I've seen bloody billions of tutorials on this topic, I think this one takes the cheese, runs away and grills it onto that-there sandwich. Definitely much more helpful, at least! And anything but boring. :

very humerous! though lacking in the teaching aspects. it still is a good guide for those who want to know how to draw cats.

destructive uses for a grilled sandwich:
the grilled cheese sandwich fall on the highway.
Result 100 car pile up.

XD Not only am I going to fav this for usefulness, but I'm going to fav it for your humour! ...Ironically I was never taught nor explained to about 3D shapes. Over the years of drawing 3D boxes out of boredom in my math book I just worked it out for myself ._. Plus my mum's an interior designer, so that helps.

Good example of foreshortening aswell! that always gives me problems.
