i've downloaded all your K3 models and tenders for them and only the GNR era tender work correctly, as Mutttley has said, the main tender mesh disappear when you get close to the tender

Downloaded your latest K3 and 4200-Gal tender updates from the DLS.  Now the tender bodies vanishe when the camera gets close.  I'm using Trainz 2012.  Is there anything I can do about this?

There is something wrong with the material, I think? I've had one report of this before and we figured out that it is rendering the polys, but not the textures for some reason. You could try removing the alpha channel from the main texture, although that will probably cause other issues. I aim to fix the problem as soon as possible, but I can't fix it as I can't replicate it...

Thanks - I'll see what I can do by mucking about in an enthusiastic but amateurish way

For reference, I'm running Trainz 12 on 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium.

Dell XPS M1730:  Graphics are 2 x Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX

The problem only manifests when the viewpoint gets close.  It's as though the highest level of detail is not being shown for some reason.

The highest level of detail is shown (this is visible, at least it was in the last case, by the presence of the tank filler cap and the coupling base) but the main material is not displaying for one reason or another.

for which model? There are five total, four applicable to the V2, all starting with "LNER 4200 Gallon Tender".

thegwpannier In reply to trainboi [2017-10-28 09:00:20 +0000 UTC]

but what's the fifth

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

trainboi In reply to thegwpannier [2017-10-28 15:42:25 +0000 UTC]

The fifth is LNER lined black, for the K3. They used the same tenders as the V2s in LNER days.

Mobian-Storyteller [2015-09-04 10:11:31 +0000 UTC]

i noticed these were 15+MBs on the DLS.
Just asking about these and K3s but why are the file sizes so large compared to the 7F and Caley 123?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

trainboi In reply to Mobian-Storyteller [2015-09-04 13:49:10 +0000 UTC]

They have higher-resolution textures and environment, normal and specular maps. In short, the textures take up roughly 16 times the file space.

Ah okay, I was just wondering since they are far too large for my content manger to download

I will probably be reincorporating the alphas in the next coming update, so the sizes will be going down a lot before too long.

Simply gorgeous. Are the boiler stripes (bands?) actual meshes or are they achieved by bump maps? I would think the latter would be better since it saves on polygons.

trainboi In reply to PercyRosalina [2014-10-16 01:34:42 +0000 UTC]

It does save on polygons, but I've tried it and I'm not too satisfied with the result, so I used meshes instead. I compensated for this thing's relatively high poly count(over 30,000 which is high for me) by giving it very comprehensive LoD.

PercyRosalina In reply to trainboi [2014-10-16 02:02:02 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I applaud you for giving the model a LOD. Very few people (I mean very few) actually put LOD meshes on Trainz models these days, regardless how good the graphics engine can handle the models (Trainz is horrible in that department).

Iscreamer1 [2014-10-09 20:10:30 +0000 UTC]

It is lovely, but there are already some V2's out there. This one might be detailed.

Also, what other LNER engines you plan to do next? Some that no one else has done before?

Also, can this be in Wartime Black for those looking for some WWII scenarios?

CaptainKman In reply to Iscreamer1 [2014-10-09 20:56:57 +0000 UTC]

The other V2 models are now 10 or 11 years old. This one is much more detailed.

Green Arrow V2's? Pretty nifty. Where are you finding the drawings and diagrams for the UK engines?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

trainboi In reply to FriscoWolf [2014-10-09 05:47:31 +0000 UTC]

Depends on which loco. I found drawings for the K3, V2s and 4MT moguls here: s405.photobucket.com/user/dirt…
As for the 7F and the Compound, they were varied sites I found via Google. And the same goes for the Welsh NG.
