Description Today we had a sprite of one of my favorite Santa Fe diesel locomotives, The Santa Fe built CF7.

Now some of you know what a CF7 is and some who don't, So if your in the latter his a little history for you.

In the 1950's The Santa Fe railroad how a fleet of EMD F3's F7's and F9's Streamliner diesels witch they used on passenger and freight trains. Until the 1970's when Amtrak was formed to take over passenger serves from railroads. Santa Fe put all there all of there F3's F7's and F9's and rebuilt them into what they called CF7's. The rebuilt replaced the oringel bulldog car-body of the old F units with a more modern Utility design similar to other freight locomotives of the day. Crews liked them as it gave them better visibility while switch in freight yards. The Santa Fe CF7's lasted till the 1980's by then many were sold off to short lands class 3 and 2 railroads and tourist railroads.
