Description

A little nostalgia visit and redesign. Always liked Dr. Blight as a villain, but her, and the Captain Planet show itself are both definitely dated. If they did pull a reboot type sitch, they could trim the fat with some of the villains - Looten Plunder was the only one who felt had a reasonable motivation to pollute ‘n stuff, and Dr. Blight had the methods and aggressive mad scientist fun to add a cartoony edge to it. Have Skumm, Nukem, and Hoggish as experiments gone bad and mutant henchmen, and Captain Pollution as the successful end product after going after Gaia and the gang, and it could be a pretty decent simple supervillain backdrop.

Just two cents about a show I haven’t watched in forever.

She makes more sense as an anti-life nihilist lunatic, of you want to pin her motives down both simply and coherently.
She’s supposed to have lost her eye entirely, which is actually quite a boldly graphic injury for a kid show.

That body looks hot as fuck which is how I envisioned Dr. Blight's body.

Great pic! I agree that I always thought the hidden scar with blonde hair and fit body was pretty sexy. Anyone else here also think that Looten Plunder and Dr. Blight were definitely having an affair? I think it was pretty obvious.

Loved Captain Planet! Great tg spin on this classic villain. Ever think of following up with this and do other members of the guys from that series as women?

Deformed face and scarred arm, yet I'll bet you she'd still have no trouble getting a contract from the president. Yeah, environmentalists are still that dumb.

How about Lu-Ten Plunder?  After all, if Captain PLanet had a Ty-Lee-

No, really, she was in the land mine episode, the one where Dr. Blight traveled back in time with her future self to sell a nuke to not-Hitler, which makes no sense since Blight's a bioterrorist.  Now if she were selling weaponized ebola to Unit 731...

Rambling aside, you may want to check out Heroes for Earth for a more serious take.  I like your idea too, though.

What the... how were Skumm or Nukem not reasonable?
One is a toxic ratman and the other was living radiation, I'd say that's how such beings would behave... and I'd say demoting them as mere henchmen would be a serious low blow, pretty much what Bay did to Scorponok...

I just remember the rat rot episode. Other than that one, all of the other episodes just kind of blend together for me.

Still, very cool redesign of pretty much the only villian woman on the show.

Oh, the 80s. The same era that gave us Heavy Metal (the animated movie that my dad showed me, my brother, and his best friends once).

Ah yes her... no idea why, but the fact that part of her face was messed up and usually was hidden under her hair was kind of sexy... don't as me why, I just found it appealing. This is some wonderful fan art of her btw, love her expression/posture, it is both sinister and sexy

The cool thing about the villains from this show was that each one represented a different threat to the environment.

Looten Plunder was crooked business actions
Hoggish Greedly was overconsumption and greed
Duke Nukem was misuse of nuclear power
Sly Sludge was poor sanitation and short term thinking

And Dr Blight here was unethical science and technology

For a second I though you meant this blight.

Haha! I always liked him too. Funny thing, I can kind of see a rebooted Looten Plunder being just like Derek Powers - corrupt business savvy buddies. And the two Blights would have gotten along pretty well, I think.

I've heard people say Captain Planet himself would be alot more interesting if he were female.

I could definitely see this reboot working - as long as the preachy environmental messages were dropped.

Haha, agreed. While it's part of the whole identity of the thing, we could definitely go without every episode ending with a silly simplistic moral message.

You know, one good thing about the Blight is how it brings people together.

It's almost strange to think that her scar patch is acceptable in current day cartoons- as long as she's the villain.
But yeah, great Dr Blight pic. And can't forget Mal, the Tim Curry voiced AI.

And thank you, this picture just triggered the spark I needed to blow up some writer's block.

I love cartoons. All cartoons. So you know there's a problem when I actively try and forget something existed. Like Captain Planet.

That actually sounds like a really great idea. I wonder if the Captain Planet IP holders would consider it?
