... I'm remembering Ranma's character, then seriously wondering if this is minor fan fiction, an actually episode, or the furthest thing from anything Ranma would ever do. Possibly more than one. Damn, those two love to compete. Or it might be the weekly phelbotnum. Those things never make sense in Ranma.

It's definitely Ranma's competitive nature completely overcoming what little common sense he started with. We never really decided exactly what contest Kuno held for his two loves to compete for his affection in, but it definitely had a large cash prize (which is why Ranma agreed to compete at all). He then got way too into it, as evidenced by Ian's followup pic:

Isn't that the truth, he or she had to learn how to cook. Especially if he/she wanted to eat. She is also pretty clean, since when you are camping you have to stay clean or else risk infection... Oh god with Ranma's strong will, ability to fight, skills in keeping a house, and the ability to instill a work ethic in someone out of fear... He makes a better woman than all the women on that show. 0_0;

The line was totally tran4of3's idea. I was originally going for something much more elaborate, to explain the contest that Ranma and Akane are competing in. But Ian distilled the context of the scene down to a sentence very similar to this, I tweaked it to these 12 words, and it worked out so well.

I love Genma's Daugther, too!! I'm still holding out hope that the author will eventually finish it. Her story from last Christmas, Fictitious Persons , was fantastic, and I read somewhere that she was planning to finish Notes From Julliard next. Since she gets the majority of her writing time over the winter holidays, I'm hopeful that we'll see the conclusion this winter.

I liked "Genma's daughter" a lot more before the author rewrote it. The first incarnation had the red heads reaction and slow acceptance come off more realistic without simply changing Ranma's personality into something completely different. However after the rewrite -- the "transition" and what made the fanfic actually worth reading -- completely disappeared. Instead the red head just became Kasumi. What make the red head so appealing is that she doesn't act or think as a woman all the time... but in the revision we no longer had that.

Yea I remember one late episode taking place in a bathhouse where Ranma was almost suffocated by accidentally putting on Akene's bikini rather then her own. I think Hopposai was involved somehow, and Ranma had also grown a full cupsize since the beginning of the series.

To be fair it is apparent pretty early that Ranma enjoys the "curse" as he/she have made no real effort to go back to jusenkyo.
I remember a funny fanfiction where it was revealed that Ranma was actually born a girl, that on purpose was pushed into a cursed hot Nannīchuan pool, as part of a convoluted plot by her father and then used a magical devise to alter her memories, who was destroyed when Ranma pushed him into the Shonmaonīchuan.

He/she has shown his/her wish to go back to Jusenkyo. He/she is just a bit stupid or does not want to swim back. Remember all the strange contraption like things he/she did in the show/Manga to return to man?

I know but they all very conveniently failed, a little too conveniently. Besides I like the idea that Genma is an evil "genius". Genius put in quotation of course. He was suddenly shown in the show to have done a lot of questionable things that could only be explained by malice or extreme stupidity.I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and thinks them evil rather then stupid. Just like with President Bush, that man wasn't stupid at all.

It is actually quite easy to make a prepubescent girl look like a boy, especially if she is a tomboy that acts and dresses like a boy. It only becomes apparent when her secondary sexsual characteristics start to develop.
Futhermore in general it is much easier for a woman to pass as a man then the other way around. Many small breasted women successfully fooled their way into the army doing the American civil war, whithout ever blowing the cover throughout the war. Why they would want to do that is another matter, but its a fact that they did.
