Personality?: Very silent, preferring to keep thoughts to himself and speak when it matters. Grown accustomed to mostly living in solitude, they're not used to showing much emotion, you won't get a reaction from him easily. Even in moments of heated arguments and fighting, his face will only slightly budge. His actions speak way louder than anything else. This comes across as intimidating since no one never really knows how or if he'll react. Xanthan tends to be skeptical of most strangers he comes across. Always questioning their intentions, doubting them, and analyzing any suspicious activity. He has difficulty being open to the ones he trusts, seeing himself as a nuisance and afraid of getting too close with someone. This self-loathsome behavior comes from his troubled past which he rarely talks about. However, if someone does manage to see his good side, despite all the walls he puts up, he's actually very caring and shows interest in getting to know people on a deeper level. Showing vulnerability or any sort of weakness is not an option in his mind but even then, it gets tiring and draining. Deep down, he craves some sort of deep intimacy that he once had.

Thinks Before Acting?: Usually yes, he might get carried away if his emotions get the best of him. Under a lot of pressure, he ends up doing something in the heat of the moment, triggering a sort of fight-or-flight response if you will.

Positive Traits?: Efficient, diligent, cunning, curious, compassionate and bold.

Negative Traits?: Pessimistic, apathetic, reserved, cynical, perfectionist and self-conscious.

Occupation?: Heaven being busy defending itself from alternate Gabriel (or "Lucifer" as they're called by in Heaven), and trying to restore back some hope into humanity, nobody thought about seeking out any alternates that may be not too pleased with their overlord's way of ruling. When Xanthan was welcomed by God, the archangels had the chance to give him a unique role. One of his main tasks is to scavenge for alternates that could have the potential to be redeemed. As he's the first and only of his kind still, he also tries to guide them if they show genuine interest in becoming angels. While disguised in his human attire, he saves humans he comes across during his searches. Another job of his, is being archangel Raphael's counselor. The second-in-command if you will. Pretty much taking in any sort of work that needs to be done when Raphael is unavailable. All the while providing his own alternative decisions and advice whenever asked for.

Powers/Skills?: Their most obvious ability is flying. With sharp reflexes, he can fly at high speeds and make quick turns. Weapon summoning, using angelic spears for all violent encounters, he can summon as many as he wants. The weapon itself was a gift from the archangel Michael. Xanthan in general is quite strong and capable of enduring the harshest of fights with cunning and creative tactics. All mostly thought from Raphael. But he didn't just learn how to fight from them. As he's his counselor, he was required to be taught many medical practices that are performed for angels. Serving as a precaution for when the archangel wasn't around to guide the other inexperienced healers. Shapeshifting is another one of his abilities, while it serves well to trick humans, the same cannot be said when it comes to alternates. To appear more human while remaining mostly the same physically, he can hide away his wings and halo. From their previous form as a flawed impersonator, some powers have remained such as pure voice mimicry and night vision. Anything else had been wiped out after his redemption.

Hobbies?: Sadly, because of his job, he doesn't have much time to waste doing something for his own pleasure. Although, whenever he does find some spare time, he enjoys painting and sketching in his journal. Mostly draws landscapes and animals or anything else that might unexpectedly inspire him. He keeps it private though, this secret hobby of his is very personal. Also likes exploring, being an angel has its perks. Sometimes casually flies in whatever direction without thought and watches his surroundings change. Has visited a few countries for brief moments to observe what other human cultures exist. To add, he has an affinity for chess and similar games of all sorts. Though, it's less for his own enjoyment and more so to watch how his opponents play.

Habits?: When he's nervous, more than usual, tends to sweat profusely and loses focus on what to do. They make a sort of "tsk" noise whenever he's displeased with something or just to silently mock someone. Their wings are sensitive when touched and they make motion based on what strong emotion he's feeling. The most noticeable detail is how he avoids touching people, only does so when it's absolutely necessary.

Relationships?: Their current longest lasting relationship is with the archangel Raphael. They're a mentor to Xanthan, always offering guidance and support. Known each other for a long time since Xan was still an alternate. Being the one to help them become an angel no less, both went through a lot of obstacles to make that happen. During his first days of living in Heaven, the archangel was eager to take him under their wing and even offered a job which would let them work together. Obviously, they've formed a close understanding friendship. They do keep it professional in the presence of others. But outside of working hours, Raphael's very much of an extrovert as a friend. Someone who tries to encourage Xan to see the good in things and oftentimes invites him on hang-outs when there's free time to spare. Xanthan isn't the most active friend, but he later on improves on it. Besides Raphael, he doesn't have any connections with the other archangels. Although, there's something to say about archangel Michael. As long as Xan has lived in Heaven, he's still unsure whether or not Michael has come around to the idea of a past alternate living amongst their kind. He knows their view on alternates isn't exactly positive, putting it lightly. Xanthan might not care if other lower ranked angels don't view him equal to them, he's far more afraid of leaving a bad impression on someone as highly powerful as Michael.

Moving onto some humans. After inspecting a certain abandoned building, he came across human blood that belonged to Mark Heathcliff. Intrigued at first, he stalked him to learn more and later was more fixated when he found out he had befriended an alternate. Only then, he steadily made his presence known to Mark. Uncomfortable tension rose between them but once that slowly passed, they got along well over some time. Gaining trust for one another. At a later date, Xanthan becomes a guardian angel for Mark. To his surprise because of the guardianship, their bond grows a lot stronger as they learn that they have more in common. Forming an unexpected family-like connection, with the angel viewed as a mentor-like figure. Just two introverts being themselves in their own introverted ways. Then there's Cesar Torres. He was unaware for a while that Mark had a literal angel for a guardian. He had been slowly informed about Xanthan yet never flat out told who they actually were until it was necessary for both to meet. Cesar went through similar feelings as he did when first meeting Him. However, it went over easier with Mark's aid. They get along well but don't interact much to begin with. Simply respecting the other's presence because of their both shared connections with Mark and Him.

Then circling back to Him (an alternate impersonator), they didn't start out good due to their first meeting. Neither wanted or thought to start any sort of friendship. Instead, remaining on neutral terms because Him had accepted to try its shot at redemption in exchange for Mark to have Xanthan as a guardian angel. Xan could tell Him was wary of them, keeping a hostile and cold attitude when they talked. He simply tolerated it. He had experience with past alternates, which he tried to redeem, who reacted the same way. Started first as a guide for redemption, later forming a respectful relationship through training and their shared interactions with Mark. At some point, they begin to interact more personally. Xanthan's vulnerable side steadily seeps out because of Him's selfless nature and Mark's easygoing friendliness. Overtime, his feelings turn into something deeper and it puts him in severe inner panic. He had promised himself to never get so close with someone again due to past trauma. Despite that, with some outsider help, he gives a shot at romance once more. But with an alternate this time.

Lastly, his enemies. Not every alternate he comes across will be too pleased at the idea of redemption so if they show aggression, they'll be swiftly taken care of. He's not one who starts fights unless necessary. Typically acts out in self-defense. Dangerous doppelgangers, like Six for example, are hunted down. He sees no point in even trying to redeem alternates like him, he doubts they can be reasoned with. Talking about Lucifer, they feel nothing but disdain and hatred towards Xanthan for their betrayal and constant attempts at redeeming their own alternates. While they aren't actively hunting him down, if he ever sets foot back into Hell, they won't be greeting him with a smile. Xan barely talks about them and what they've done to him. The overlord is left as but a painful reminder of the angel's past, only showing up in his nightmares.

Past? (Short Version): Created and formed in the depths of Hell, during the ongoing second world war in 1942. Hell's overlord, Lucifer, took this as a shining opportunity to make steady progress on its plans to corrupt humanity in the US. Xanthan, although lacking a name at the time, was an envy alternate. Few other alternates were scattered in groups around the country. The new alternate found himself in the old Bythorne county. The task was simple for flawed impersonators: replace a human and become a doppelganger. His target was a lonely local art shop owner whose business struggled. Everything went along well, tormenting the poor artist for a while until something had distracted him. Curiosity had begun to rise instead. First it started when the owner took breaks to paint art pieces in their private workshop, right above the store. It would follow and watch them silently. There was something so captivating about the way their brush moved, the vivid colors drawn on the canvas put him in awe. Later on, he took notice of the regular customers who'd come in every so often. One caught his attention. A lady named Joan Lavigne, a painter who was often accompanied by her older brother. However, he didn't interact with the woman, just stared from a distance. One day though, the owner was ordered to help with the war efforts. Their shop was left to be neglected with an alternate roaming the place and claiming it as its own. He had failed his task, stalling for far too long. His target never came back to the shop. Unexpectedly, Joan came in while he was out in the open, looking around the shop.

Expecting high-pitched screaming, instead she had no reaction. She greeted him as if it were the owner as always. Utterly confused, only then he realized that she could not see him. Or anything at all, she was blind. It had never occurred to him before until he had a much closer look at her. From that point on with the frequent visits, they slowly bonded over their fascination with art. This relationship raised many confusing emotions over the years, none that he had felt before or even understood. Eventually, he had to confess what he actually was, yet Joan didn't care. It was rather unclear to the alternate whether she already felt something off about him or not, and simply waited for its own answer. Maybe she didn't actually get the idea of it being a literal "demon" of sorts. Yet, she seemed unphased. Both of them had developed deeper feelings and became romantically involved with each other. Joan even gave him a name, Xavier. Unfortunately, Lucifer was eventually informed about his affairs and soon confronted him. Insulted, they disowned Xavier and warned about the consequences of such treachery. After that, he was on high alert, doing what he could to protect his partner and her brother, at all costs. They were targeted by other alternates, resorted to living in hide-out. An even bigger threat would arise overtime. A certain doppelganger the trio shouldn't have crossed with. That figure would pose as a constant source of misery and pain.

That human and alternate relationship piqued the interest of the archangel Raphael, angel of healing. He had never seen an alternate display this kind of affection towards a human and began frequently visiting them. The thought of Xavier possibly being redeemable was brought up all around Heaven. Lucifer had other plans for the traitor. They couldn't let one of his underlings be redeemed by his worst enemies, feeling like they had no choice but to take matters into their own hands. With help, they found out where Joan was hiding. While disguised, they infected her with severe M.A.D. and watched her die before their eyes. Enjoying every second of it. Then went for the traitor next. At the sudden news of Joan's death, Xavier wasn't going to let her lifeless body fall under the overlord's grasp. Proclaiming outrage right at the face of his own creator. In the middle of a massive fight between Lucifer and Raphael with Xavier, the alternate went into a sort of comatose state. Waking up somewhere unfamiliar, he quickly was greeted by God themselves. Going through their final judgment task and succeeding, it received their divine blessing. Accepted as their own creation, Xavier turned into an angel. All the while that was happening, Raphael was fighting off Lucifer for long enough. Though, Lucifer did catch glimpse of their alternate turning into something horrible. It sent them to a blinding rage. Their everlasting smile dropped for the first time. One last push had to be done for the newly redeemed angel. Barely surviving with severe bruising and ungodly scars, he lived through his creator's wrath.

In due time, he gave a proper burial for Joan. Letting her rest peacefully and untouched forever. Her grave remains as a hidden location disclosed to a few trusted individuals. The hardest part only started for Xavier, the grieving process. One that lasted an entire decade, declining his mental health drastically. Ever since joining Heaven and living amongst the third triad of angels, he had been renamed to Xanthan by higher ups. Sworn his loyalty to God, he serves as the first and concrete proof that alternates are capable of redemption.
