Description the squid attack

Under much persuasion from my young adventurers we decided that a sea monster attack was needed Now there is a debate among my four pirates on what this beast is. A kracken, and octipi, squid or just some beast in dad's head

What ever it maybe our heroes are determined to see it through.

All updates are in italics
flats 2
I still have more to add in the clouds and the tentacles, plus some goo on the deck. I also have all the shadows to add and detail on the underside of the tentacles- I should prob have that all done in the next few days- depending on the work load.

flats 1:
Adding the flats- This is a work in progress- I still have many other flat colors to add, especially on the boat and the creature- in fact I have not determined what the colors for both will be. Still Changing things so be patient- I should have another update on this later in the day. I should hopefully start replying again later today or tomorrow- there is a lot going on right now.

inks and the illustration:
In creating this scene I realized that I needed to make the boat deck accommodate the bears. It took a lot of reworking and a little frustration (i had to ink this twice, when I realized that several aspects of the pencils did not work). Yet it is all done and I am starting to work on the flats. Hopefully tonight if not monday.
See you around

Remember: the only teeth a squid has is on its tongue.

I've seen too many giant squid with anatomically wrong mouths.

It's so wrong to see a squid with fangs.
It's like a dog with buck teeth, or Christina Aguilera singing in Spanish.

But it doesn't need teeth! It can put the squeeze on everyone like the tax man.

Teddy Cap'n: "The monster was all over me like a cheap suit!" (I forget which comedian first used that line, but it seems appropriate.)

Well, don't forget that cephalopods have beaks.

True, true. I think sperm whales end up with squid-beaks in their tummies from them. Of course by the time you or I reached the beak I think we'd be rather squished and so not in a condition to worry about them.

Or, if the whale puked them up (as the way it happened to the Prince of Monaco), we would be wishing that we were on another side of the world.

Oh neat! Love the use of the varied line widths and patterns. I'll be looking forward to seeing the colors on this.

line weight is so important in illustrations- it adds depth- and a lot of artist forget that

I am working the colors as we speak

Agree, the line weight really helps with depth. A technique I'm still learning.
