Description
training with dadRight now I am training my kids how to color- almost the same, a skill to survive
also why does b/w art get little love? I\'ve always wondered that.

Don't know why b/w is less loved, 'cos personally I love it. I love this drawing too as it reminds me of when my daughter and I belonged to a Medieval re-enactment group... Good times and fond memories!

I totally agree with you about black and white not getting enough respect. If you look at the amazing art out there, some of the best stuff is black and white. I think it has to do with many people seeing something with color and going "oooooo" just like they do with shiny objects. XD

yeah- that is true- I find myself at times just roaming the b/w art to stay inspired. it is a dying art in a way

I really don't know because I personally find black and white art very expressive. I love this btw but it's so cute plus it's pirates hahah :3

I'm sure they will. I look at my daughter's drawings and they are already better than mine were at her age - just with a few pointers from me.

It's been a rough patch and the art went by the wayside for quite a while. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to explain it fully. As to what I'm working on, what you see is what I'm doing - just enjoying the flow of lines across the paper and the feeling of ideas flowing from a long dormant portion of my brain. In short. I feel happy. Thanks for reaching out to say hello. I'm really enjoying "seeing" all my old drawing buddies again.
y tu?

good- i am glad you are getting to doodling again-
ME i am involved in bean - finished issue 5 which is printing now and I have started the pencils on issue 6
one day I plan to color the entire series - one day it just takes too much time and there is not enough hours in the day.
though the door is always open to a brilliant colorist

Thanks Trav! I am really proud of the color work I did with you. I learned a lot... I wonder if I can remember how to do it now. May I bug you for a bitmap to practice on for fun, and to see how it feels.

Because people are like magpies, drawn to things that are colorful? I've always admired strong black and white compositions and artists who were able to use line weights and shadows.
Love this pieceβthe idea gets straight to my Inner Sap.

Because (imo) programs offer such neat options and makes such an impression B&W can seem a bit flat in comparison. It IS an artform though, no mistake about it. Takes a rare bird to add depth to something with only one color to choose from.
