This never failed to make me laugh at any age. This idea has been fermenting for a long while and I'm really glad how it turned out.

Oh man I love old kid things because you never knew what you were reading/watching, which is why I hate this whole 'Disney's corrupt' thing and the we-must-edit-videos-so-kids-wont-know deal. What the heck! They already dont know. Most of them dont even know the story like. I didnt even know what the Lion King was about until I saw it again at 15 . So instead they poison them with sitcom like cartoons, and just plain garbage.

I would bet money, if I had any that is, that if you saw Pinocchio when you were a kid and then saw it older, you would admit you never saw the cigars they were handing out to the kids and talk of temptation.

But enough of that xD. This is all sorts of neat. I giggled madly.

Oh yus, I loved the days when children's stuff wasn't required to be politically correct and crystal clean and so forth. Much better when they were allowed to add that slight dash of the twisty.

I also remember that plot point in Dumbo when he got drunk, had a weird dream sequence, and woke up in a tree. Oh the memories of childhood corruption. It was better in the more subtle days when they were still for kids, but there was a sense of humor that parents could get too.

That scene still scares me. But omg! I did not connect him being drunk and then ending up in a tree later!

I havent seen Dumbo in ages.

Hahaha! This is brilliant! Though Rex, I suppose, is right - things like this tend to happen to our characters, don't they?

Thanks muchly (with respects to Mr. Ray). And yus, this sort of thing should be expected by now.

kind of a funny thing to put in a children's book. "sniffing strange bottles is fun kids!"

Yar...but then again, Curious George is usually one of those characters who is the ultimate of example of what not to do. Heck, he once got arrested for false fire alarm and then escaped prison.

hahaha! hAH HAHA! hah! HAHA! Oh man, this is cracking me up so bad! That was in a real Curious George book? Oh man, I love the re-enactment with Geo! hahahaha!

Oh yus. Except for obvious changes, complete verbatim from the book. Curious George is brilliant. Thanks so much! Glad it amused.

Ether is the definition of "good time." Ur...I mean...Don't Do Drugs!

There's still time to read 'em. ^^

I guess you'd know. |3

That's true. Though I already get away with watching cartoons. I don't know if I could get away with reading kids books too. X3

BTW, you never told me who those other coons who look like us are. X3

Geez, its amazing what they allowed in childrens books in those days. They certainly wouldn't allow Geo in a child's picture book today. The fox struck me as haveing a typical "Man in the Yellow Hat" pose.

Traxer In reply to Salvestro [2009-08-05 13:41:16 +0000 UTC]

Indeed. Curious George also smoked pipes. X3 And yus, was trying for that "Yellow Hat" effect. Thanks muchly.

There are so many things in kids books that just seem so much weirder when your older....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Traxer In reply to pirthecatsir [2009-08-05 13:39:55 +0000 UTC]

Amen to that. Some of my favs are "Miss Nelson is Missing!" and "The House On East 88 Street" and of course, the original Curious George books. The humor and stories are ageless.
