To be honest, Tex Avery was the one who introduced breaking the fourth wall way back in the late 30's when he worked at Warner Bros.

Yes, and he would use breaking the fourth wall to great extent, when he left Warner Bros. and went to Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) in 1942.
In fact, Tommie, I have a Blu-Ray featuring 19 of Tex Avery's theatrical cartoon masterpieces he made at MGM from 1943 to 1951.
The Blu-Ray was released by Warner Archive back in February. The cartoons were restored using 4-K scans, and they look fantastic.

Well, I did remember watching Tex Avery's cartoons since I was little on Cartoon Network.

That's right. Cartoon Network had its own show in the 90's and early 2000's called "The Tex Avery Show."
Back in 1988 through the 90's, MGM/UA released 4 VHS tapes called "Tex Avery Screwball Classics" which you can find on E-Bay at ridiculous high prices.
