Description Taken at night at 11:30pm. Under a motorway bridge the street lights on the over pass were extremly powerful and sent some powerful sodium light down through gaps between the lanes.
But I still exposed the shot for 3 seconds, and white balanced it in camera raw. Usually Junkies and bums hang around this place at night, but in summer time they move out into the open, so its safe to bring down a camera.

The sense of humanity you bring into your photos is stunning.
I went to an art studio for a while and we did a lot of work by referencing various journals and books of photography. I can't really recall the names, but the photographers I've always admired most were those that took pictures of the ordinary and somehow turned it extraordinary. It was like their photos were so full of life it could barely be contained. Your photos are like that.

its a fantastic shot. however u know.. if u'd have moved the camera a little to the left and rotated to get the dark entrance in the bottom square of the frame, it would really draw the viewer into the scene (a more balanced perspective it would provide).. just an idea to ponder abt

Good point, but sadley the entrance in the picure is acually stretching over a wide sewer filled river, too wide to get in frame. But thanks for the compositional technique its the only way I'll ever learn.

Thanks glad you like it. The original's color tempeture was due to the yellow sodium lights were the only source at night.
Although it's amazing what Photoshop can do, since it even recovered the original color of the graffiti.

this is brilliant, the tones from that light hitting the wall are spot on. and great composition of his posture. the angle moving away to the right moves the eye across perfectly. I just looked at the original, was that cause of the high temp light + reciprocity failure at 3secs? very good job correcting in PS though.

I perfer the original over your new one w/o color. The color seems to really bring out the desolate effect of the scene.

i like it. have you tried to desaturate the photo, and then mess up with the Brightness/Contrast?
