Too bad the Navy never adopted this gun - it is quite imposing. I'm sure the Marines would have been quite happy if it was adopted, as it would likely be great for shore bombardment.

it was developed for ngfs as a replacement for all the 8" gun cruisers that were retiring after vietnam. turned out not to be too accurate, project got shelved.
i thought it would be great for surface warfare. . .
