BEGINNINGS 1998 - 2000
For obvious reasons, SWOOP was and remains the most difficult Dinobot to shoehorn into the standard icon format. The fact that no illusion was even entertained to include the "head fin" in the first go-round only meant it would not be possible to keep distorting the characters’ icon appearances that 32x32-serving way. I decided the icon should always serve the character, not the other way around. After expanding the format, things significantly improved, but the relative complexity of his features made him, quite frankly, such a task that, even many years later, he was definitely one to be reckoned with.
SECOND WIND 2007 - 2011
The Dinobots are a sundry bunch, which makes them fun to work on, but they also make demands on all of my skills (such as they are), which sometimes causes me to put off updating them. SWOOP is a character I really enjoy -- his semi-focal appearance in DESERTION OF THE DINOBOTS - PART 2 made him a big favourite in my book -- and that makes me want to give him my very closest attention. The latest update was inspired by my desire to create an avatar compilation along the lines of THE HISTORY OF ALPHA TRION, but about the extended Dinobot family. Larger than you might think, too!
