Description

Ha! I managed to spit out one last comic before the year is out. Just a little thing about my goals for next year (how original). It's nothing extra, just an excuse to draw fancy clothes and complete one last thing in 2013 really.

I guess I at least got some slight training in drawing people, well, one person really. Poses, expressions.. that sort of thing. I'm trying to illustrate the fact that I use my hands a lot when talking.

Drawing pinstripes with a mousepad is nothing I'd like to recommend to anyone, but what could I do when I left the better mouse in England and my trousers actually have pinstripes? These things are important.

I'm not quite sure what the effects of drinking something that sparkly and fabulous might be, maybe I have to explore the possibilities in further strips next year. Who knows?

Is it bad cartooning to have mouths closed although the pictured person is talking (I would have felt silly drawing myself gaping for every single frame)?

I haven't made any new year's resolutions....or wait, maybe it was to stop stressing too much.....

anyway, nice work and looking forward to seeing more women from you XD

oh and terrible criticism now!! have you noticed the stripes on your pants have disappeared in the last image?

Yes, I have noticed the disappearing stripes, and chose not to care

Lady drawing is going strong, which you know if you've kept an eye on my tumblr: www.artropod.tumblr.com/tagged…

And yes, I think your resolution would be to stop stressing and overdoing things.

Yeah, I'm having trouble with that second resolution as well.

oh no, rant incoming, just skip ahead -- Ever since 2 years ago when my comic up and moved to a place that contains things other than spiffy butch androgynes, I not only have to draw, like, dudes (gag me with a spoon, as people used to say); but ostensibly eventually it will have to contain 100% identifible women as well. I'm not sure I can make it through the months of said drawings before I'll get to the big Character Speech that vents some of my irritations on some of those topics! [/rant]

But yes, on topic - animations! It would be nifty to see those chaotically-limbed chimeras and hoozywhazzits moving their limbs in sustainable locomotion!

Oo, clothing stripes (of a pin or any other variety), important and nifty. & I'm usually silly enough to have people's clothes covered with stripes/checkers/whatever and then have to draw them that way forever.

n' what I don't know about cartooning could fill a battleship - but I think it's okay for mouths to be closed during talking, if the expression is from an emotive moment during the speech...because the alternative is thinking about lip-synching the mouth to one specific sylable in amongst all the things they're vocalizing in that wordbubble, and that way madness lies..

Ok, I think I've used up all the letters on the internets on this post...sorry about that!

I don't mind the rant! It is oddly soothing to hear that someone else struggles with these things as well.

I've always found drawing men fairly easy (except that they are human beings, which always poses a problem for me), probably because it's closer to drawing anything else, like a fish or a dinosaur (except those are way more fun to draw). With women there's that strange emotional investment or identification or something going on. I'm not entirely sure why I find drawing feminine ladies especially embarrassing, just one of those strange things. I wish all strength to you in drawing difficult things.

Yes! As soon as I'm done with my dissertation I'd like to make some of my monsters move

Too detailed characters can be such a pain sometimes

Well it started with me being ALIVE so I'd say it's an epic fail for the entire year.

Hope you're doin' fine this far though.
