-Scientists who were caught in accidents that lead to them being turned into hideous plant-based swamp creatures, with both being guardians of some sort of multiversal energy source (The Nexus of all Realities and The Green).
-Both became mindless husks of the men they once were retaining only a bit of sentience. But while Swamp-Thing regained some of his humanity, Man-Thing mostly remains emotionless beast.
