Description
While enjoying eating their cookies, Mac and Frankie Foster comes across Ed, Edd (aka Double-D), Eddy, Nazz, Rolf, Jonny 2x4, and Plank enjoying eating their jawbreakers.Happy 15th Anniversary of Cartoon Network City and I am not gonna lie, out of all the eras on Cartoon Network, CN City era is definitely my favorite and I have really good, fond, nostalgic memories about it.
For those who don't know, CN City (also known by fans as Toon City, Downtown, The City of Cartoon Network, and the Cartoon Network Universe) was the fourth era of Cartoon Network, which began on June 14, 2004, replacing Powerhouse, and was the main branding image of the network from that point until April 9, 2006, when it became a secondary brand in favor of Yes! (which began on April 3, 2006) and continue on until June 1, 2007 (When I was nearing the end of Freshmen year in Chariho High School) after Stuart Snyder took over as the head of the network and began to screw things up (Hey, at least Snyder learned from his mistake back in 2010).
The era was named for its bumpers, which were set in a CGI city and featured CN characters interacting with one another. These bumpers were produced by Animal Logic. The City era is notable for the new logo it brought with it, as well as the female announcer and the slogan "This is Cartoon Network."
The City (but with some modern additions such as Finn and Jake's treehouse from Adventure Time, Mung Daal's Catering from Chowder, etc.) appeared in the OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes episode "Crossover Nexus", along with other old shows and the Noods.
So what I love about CN City is the live-action/CGI background of the city as well as the various areas of each Cartoon Network shows (such as the house of the titular characters from The Powerpuff Girls, the lab from Dexter's Laboratory, the cul-de-sac from Ed, Edd n Eddy, the titular mansion from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, the middle of nowhere from Courage the Cowardly Dog, etc.), the design of the city, the CGI objects, advertisements, and vehicles (such as the titular robot-car hybrid from Megas XLR, the Foster's bus, the Mystery Machine from the classic Scooby Doo series, the subway, etc.), and the hand-drawn animated characters blended within, kinda like something out of The Amazing World of Gumball. Not to mention the fact that the characters from each Cartoon Network series both old and new during the time met up and interacted with one another.
I'd say this is a pretty fun and memorable time back then. Happy 15th Anniversary to my favorite era on Cartoon Network
Note: For the Powerpuff Girls, I used a screencap of them and drew them in Procreate app.
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and The Powerpuff Girls (Original series) is created by Craig McCracken
Ed, Edd n Eddy is created by Danny Antonucci at aka Cartoons
All is owned by Cartoon Network
