Description
Dorygnathus banthensisNamed by Johann Andreas Wagner, 1860 (Specific name by Carl Theodori, 1830)
Diet: Piscivore (fish)
Type: Rhamphorhyncoid pterosaur
Size: 4.9 feet (1.5 meter) wingspan and 3 lb
Region: Europe (Germany)
Age: Early Jurassic (182.7 to 180 million BC; Toarcian)
Enemies: Marine reptiles such as the rhomaleosaurid plesiosaur, Meyerasaurus
Episode: Walking with Dinosaurs: Inside Their World app
Original Version: vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/w…
Info: Living alongside another rhamphorhyncoid Campylognathoides, Dorygnathus flew over the archipelago islands on the vast ancient Tethys Sea in what is now the famous Posidonian Shales of Holzmaden in east Germany that produced many fossils of marine life that date back 180 million years ago in the Early Jurassic period. Meaning "Spear Jaw," this pterosaur had long, curved, sharp teeth near the front, upper, and lower jaws that pointed forward and interlocked, ideal for catching fish out of the water, whereas the smaller, finer teeth towards the back were perfect for carrying its prey.

Actually not a piscivore, but a falcon-like aerial predator.

Nice. For days on end, I thought Dorygnathus was the last of them, and I had to take up the legacy somehow. That would have been no problem considering my addiction to dinosaurs.
