I hate heat. One trip to Washington D.C. during the summer where I spent the entire time pushing my dad in a wheelchair who ways twice as much as I do and then some, gave me heat stroke and since then I get ill if I have to deal with too much heat. Thankfully in the Bay Area in CA the heat spell finally broke. It was up in the 90's or 100's for 2 weeks and now it's in the blissful 70's. =w=

Yeah, I heard it's been super hot over there. It's not up to 100 yet, but today will be close, and the nearly 100% humidity is was really makes it AWFUL. I lived in CA for most of my life, (Go Bay Area!) and it would be over 100 for a week or two, but it would be DRYYY. >_<

MarrinWolf In reply to TriaElf9 [2012-07-19 01:15:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah if it's hot it is dry but the moment any moisture shows up it cools down over here because the wind picks up then and blows all the heat away into the valley...I do not miss living in the valley with no air conditioning. In the hundreds one day and then randomly a hail storm would come every now and then. That was always odd.

While you lot are melting, everyone living in the UK are drowning in the amount of rain we've had this month. Seriously, we all feel like drowned rats over here. >_<

Wow, how hot has it been recently in Japan during the daytime? Hey, the entire East Coast of the USA is melting too. T_T You're not alone.

(I'm doing fine over here in California though. Somehow we got left out of the killer heat wave this time. )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TriaElf9 In reply to HidanGod [2012-07-19 00:44:34 +0000 UTC]

yesterday got up to 97, today too, but it's that and the combo of the nearly 90-100% humidity that is the killer aspect. I think the humidity at home is at least a little less.
Yeah, I saw the temps on the west coast and I was all I'M LIVING THERE WHEN I GO BACK.

Aw I had to move from my previous place to be able to keep him so I know how you feel. I wasn't intending to get a cat because of the strict rules here but we kind of wound up finding one another in a time of need.

Yeah, my family usually finds cats in time of need, but in Japan cats run away from meee >_< If my husband gets a new job, we'll probably move and then I might look into adopting a kitten, but I've no idea where to do that! >_< I'd rather not go to a pet store, but it doesn't seem like Japan really has adoption agencies...

Most strays run from people, or only approach if you have food and then dart away if you move towards them. It's not their fault, they just don't trust people. I found my cat, crying in the middle of the night in a parking lot by my apartment, when he was a kitten. He was very sick and even though I approached him with caution he didn't resist at ALL when I picked him up, and just layed comfortably in my arms. This leads me to believe he wasn't a stray, but was a pet that was thrown out onto the street- most likely because he'd gotten sick and the owner didn't want to deal with that. Sadly many cats get abandoned this way...and most people don't realize how important it is to neuter/spay pets here. Thus a LOT of stray cats in Japan.

I agree it's way better to adopt than go to a pet store. Also if you don't mind getting a cat rather than a kitten, that's even better. I never see grown cats or dogs in pet stores here, and I can't help but wonder what they do if an animal grows up before it's sold...

I found a couple of adoption agencies here in Niigata actually- as there was a time I was considering getting a second cat to keep my Noah company since I'm gone most of the day. I looked online and was able to find some databases..you probably can find something too if you hunt around. There arn't any major organizations in Japan like the SPCA, so what I found was most places are run out of someone's home (bless their hearts).

TriaElf9 In reply to AnkoArt [2012-07-20 05:37:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. They also think it's better to let a pet free than to take it to be put down b/c it's not wanted. Awwww, poor kitty T___T

All my cats at home have been adopted, so I grew up thinking that's better, but now I worry about the cats at the pet stores, and would it be good to rescue them too... ^_^;;; I think they lower the price the older they get.

Well, hopefully, if we move, I can find a nice kittie that needs help ^_^;;
