I always think it's interesting to see someone in a kimono driving a car or biking, or on a train, but to see a monk in full get up on a little tiny moped weeeeeeeeeeh-ing down the street (like giant hairdryers, those motors are) it was a bit much.I've never actually seen monks have their own transportation here, mostly they get donations and take the train, but yeah. And I wonder if it was, like the temple's moped, 'cause I'm pretty sure there's a rule about not owning worldly possessions... anywho. It was a bit of a head turner. And it made me smile.
Hope it will make you smile too!
(And he was wearing a helmet too! Which is a rarity here in and of itself!)

one time I saw a monk in a wallmart looking at sunglasses. don't think it was the same type of monk though. XD

HAHA! that's hilarious! do people really not wear helmets on motorcycles/mopeds in japan? it's a law where i live that you have to wear one, or else you get a ticket and have to pay a fine

Not so much on mopeds, and not on the smaller motorcycles, at least, the punks don't tend to. And if they DO wear them, the straps are unhooked.
Bike helmets are more uncommon. Up to high school, it's the law, but after that, no one bothers ^_^;;;
