Description
Well, stupid birds as I promised last week. Basically, last year a little bird tried to build a home in our fan duct. This is a bad idea for two reasons:1. The fan sucks gas out of our kitchen and the fumes would be bad for the babies.
2. Every time you turn on the fan the flaps open which knock out the nest, as is shown in the first panel.
So, after all that, you'd think that that would be enough to drive any bird away. ESPECIALLY when I'd been cooking the day and night before. But nooo. Either it's the same, determined bird, or a different bird who equally misunderstood the opportunities of the duct.
Anyway, I thought it was kinda funny. a bit sad, as we saw the bird come back and be all WHERE MY NEST later in the day, but it's for the best, really. I suppose. ^_^;;
Enjoy!

This actually happened to me a few years back only it was in our oven vent and well...it took us a while to figure it out...
And by that I mean that when we cleaned it out we found four baby bird skeletons in the vent...X(

I'm surprised they don't have some sort of natural way to ward birds off from doing things like that. Like some kind of scent spray that would scare them off from doing that kind of think...if that makes sense?

I don't know if they have stuff like that... mostly they just put up flashy things to scare them away.

What about putting a mesh screen over the opening outside? that way the air still flows though but birds can't get in

we were thinking that, but it'd be hard to fasten it without doing some damage to the duct and we're renting the place ^_^;;

Aw that's kinda sad.
There's a bird that always builds it's nest in the most precarious branches of the tallest tree in my yard. It's really windy where I live, so no mater how many times it builds its nest there, it keeps getting blown out. It's always really sad to walk around the yard and see all the little eggs broken on the ground.
You think after 3 years it would take a hint.
