Description
I use a compact cam Canon (completely manual) and on this mount an optical for a 35mm camera reversed ( 50 milimeter Nikon f/1.8) the shots are often taken with short times of exposure (1/400 or 1/500) and the use of the flash is indispensable. the trouble is that the Canon A80 does not support external flash and and so I use a panel with a white background of parabolic shape to reflect it. I zoom x3 (about 100mm) and open to the maximum (f/1.8) in 50mm in order to avoid vignettings.you can take good macroshots but the field of focusing is much strait (about 2 milimeter)......and this is really a great great trouble....
some shots taken with this technique:

Amazing, what you can bring out with this "technic"
I also have a compact cam, til now I wanted a DSLR, but I think I only will buy lenses for the compact
(how did you know, what brand is compatible?)

OHHHHHH quanto tempo non vedevo usare un trucchetto simile!!!!!!
Mi ricorda un'epoca passata in cui fotografare costava molto e c'erano pochi soldi...
E' commovente, ed allo stesso tempo confortante.
Bravo, buona realizzazione.

I'm trying something like this myself, and I'd like to know how did you mount the reversed lens? At the moment I have to hold mine by hand, which is a little tricky... Any other tips would be much appreciated

Triagon In reply to Acwraith [2007-03-13 10:08:31 +0000 UTC]
you need:
1_a canon adapter ( the black one)...I used this for my cam: [link]
2_a ring (the silver one) to convert the screw of the adapter to the screw of the lens (hand made by a turner)

Thanks I'm pretty sure I can get an adapter for my camera... The other one might be a bit tricky though, the lens I'm using has a 49mm diameter and I think the adapters are for 55mm accesories...

Triagon In reply to Acwraith [2007-03-13 14:27:58 +0000 UTC]
my adapter had a 50mm diam...
if your adapter have a 55mm.... you must buy a ring 49-->55 (my problem was that I need a 50/50 ring.... and it was very hard to find
)
good luck and write me again if you need my help!

may i know why the need for reflector? and how do u attach the white relector?
π: 0 β©: 1
Triagon In reply to nooriskandar [2006-07-08 16:47:29 +0000 UTC]
it's attached with a stupid piece of metal ....something that you can find everywhere...and locked in the screw for the tripod.
you must use this because the flash, when fired, is covered by the additional lens (50mm) and so without this technique the shot will be underexposed

This is really interesting ... and I'm really interested But how do you attach the 50mm lens unto the A80? Is it you're using the lens adapter for Canon? And do you need to do anything to the 50mm lens in order for it to screw in/attach unto the camera, like maybe do some manual diy to the lens?
π: 0 β©: 1
Triagon In reply to meendee [2006-07-08 16:54:19 +0000 UTC]
i've used only a canon adapter and a ring (the silver one) to convert the screw of the adapter to the screw of the lens

when you do "normal" distant pictures like Kiss Of Light, you use this nikon in normal position or some other stuff?
π: 0 β©: 1
Triagon In reply to CroWhite [2005-12-15 08:11:51 +0000 UTC]
nono I don't use it, I remove it and use only the lens of the A80
this 50mm nikon is only for macroshot, and I use it only in reversed position
