Description Hey guys.

Been awhile since I've uploaded a drawing. I was busy with the holidays, and then I got sick for awhile so that didn't help =/. I've wanted to draw an eye for a long time, and well, this is the result. Spent probably around 6-8 hours on it. Tools were HB, 2B and 4B mechanical pencils. Paper size was 30 cm by 19 cm.

Reference was the stock image found here: Intoxicating eye stock

Hope you like it ^_^.

Cool! What i find most interesting about your work is how nicely faded and shaded your work is, the gradients are really smooth and gradual, not only here but in your RD and Rarity pics too, to name a couple, they look so sharp and clean, but Im sure you must do some smudge shading? Is that a thing? Or is it all achieved just with strokes of the pencil?

Pretty much all my shading is done by smudging, usually with cotton swabs. I'll either do pencil strokes and then smudge it, or use lead that's already on my cotton swabs and just apply it to the drawing =].

Wow! How long did it take you to get into that habit?

Oh I have no idea, I know I never used to smudge when I first started drawing, but I picked it up pretty quick =].

Cool! Do you have different sizes of cotton bud for different shading tasks? x3

No, I use the same size of cotton swab for most everything. For very small details I use a very thin blending stump.

Thanks for the advice! I'm pretty sure that, many years ago, that's what a friend told you.

That's completely right, I've heard it many times in my years of drawing and it's completely true =].

Oh, you are right on that. I mean, however do you shade with only pencilsΒ yet make it look as if you took a picture of your various art peices?
